I am excited to announce that @shayonsengupta and @SpencerApplebau have been promoted to General Partner and Co-Heads of Venture at Multicoin Capital.
Over the past several years, both have taken on significantly more responsibility across every dimension of our business. They’ve not only continued to identify, source, and lead deals at an increasing rate, but have also increasingly taken on more ownership of the strategy, operations, and long-term direction of Multicoin.
Multicoin was founded on the belief that crypto will fundamentally reshape global markets. We recently published our updated thesis for the next decade of crypto. We couldn't be more excited about the future of crypto and opportunity to invest in these theses.
Reflecting on my time in the UAE
TLDR - I'm very impressed
There are two things that really stand out to me about UAE
1) They want to build the future. I love the ambition
Burj Khalifa
The Palm
Indoor skiing
Deepest pool in the world (epic for diving)
Burj Al Arab
Yas Island
W hotel *inside of the Marina circuit*
Fastest rollercoaster in the world
Vegetation on the sides of the highways and in the median (wow! attention to detail)
etc
I grew up in the USA, and man the NIMBYism is so clear in contrast to the UAE.
2) The impact of good government policy over a very long horizon. UAE was born in 1971, and I think there was not a whole lot there at the time. But the instituted a handful of spectacular policies that have attracted people. Those policies include
No property or income tax
Build for high quality of life (parks, recreation, pools, etc)
Strict criminal enforcement, and as a result, almost no crime
Again, when comparing to the USA, the difference is striking. The UAE is literally in the desert! And they have built it into an incredibly desirable place to live
As I was driving around, one thing in particular stood out to me. The billboards. These weren't billboards like you see in the USA that are say 30x15 and on a pole in the air. They were like 150x30 and basically at ground level. And most of them were for... housing. All of the housing being marketed was beautiful. High rises, neighborhoods, etc.
This dovetails with the prior comment about building a desirable place to live. It' the desert! The Emirates need to market the UAE as a great place to live, and they do a great job of it. and it's working! Population + GDP growth in UAE is simply spectacular
I look forward to coming back and spending more time in the UAE over time.

Michael Saylor: "If $MSTR is going to be more aggressive about buying #Bitcoin...we'll look at various financing options...(including) to borrow against that 110,000 bitcoin and then reinvest that in more bitcoin." The #MicroStrategy blowup is going to be spectacular. 🙈
