@Ionoclast50@harryjsisson@JDVance However, it was more complicated than it's typically taught or understood today. South Carolina was correct from a legal standpoint, but wrong morally. Northern States were not abiding by the Fugitive Slave Act, which I applaud them for. But it was the law of the land.
@Ionoclast50@harryjsisson@JDVance One part reads: "The General Government, as the common agent, passed laws to carry into effect these stipulations of the States. For many years these laws were executed. But an increasing hostility on the part of the non-slaveholding States to the institution of slavery,..."
@Ionoclast50@harryjsisson@JDVance Thanks for posting, I mostly agree. But the secession by South Carolina WAS about slavery, precipitated by the election of a Republican president, the party being anti-slavery. South Carolina made it clear that slavery was the reason for secession.
@iAnonPatriot Zero. Wife is unvaccinated and got it once, and both of her vaccinated kids got it from her. I quarantined and took care of them for two weeks and didn't get sick.
@ChiSoxFanMike@The_RexFactor6 To be fair, he's a great kid who's done more than what was expected. It's not his fault that our Sox don't have 9 major leaguers for a starting lineup, which would place him as a solid utility infielder and defensive replacement, where he belongs.
@ChiSoxFanMike It was a puzzling hire at the time and I don't recall anyone expecting him to do well. I sure didn't. I feel bad for him because he's a hechuva nice guy, but he's in over his head. I'm hoping he has been a placeholder in what was expected to be a lost season.
@ChiSoxFanMike Deivi Garcia is terrible. Had a low ERA in spring training, a small sample size. He’s been bad his entire minor league career, ERA over 6 at AAA for his career. Why is he on the mound with a 1-run lead??
