Millennials and Gen Z today comprise nearly half of the U.S. electorate, but are mired in fatalism. Leaders at the @BIFYA_Berkeley say @taylorswift13 and other young icons might inspire millions to feel hope — and power. https://t.co/KiByIiG7bQ
A great visual of how homeownership by age has changed over time via @jamesohawkins @BIFYA_Berkeley
Between 1980 and 2021:
32 year-olds are the worst off - decline of 14.1 percentage points
82 year-olds show the greatest gains - increase of 14.7 percentage points.
📊New analysis of homeownership rates📊
I use the American Community Survey via @ipums to compare how homeownership rates have changed over time for different age groups. What do I find?
New Tax Policy Center research shows that across all income categories, itemized deductions disproportionately benefit white taxpayers over Black and Hispanic taxpayers. https://t.co/h5wfaqUF8R
@BIFYA_Berkeley Been pretty invested in the #Prop13 debate since @GoldmanSchool and still was surprised some of the results here.
No idea that vacant lots were getting such a large relative discount! You'd think we'd want to, you know, incentivize developing these lots instead... #housingcrisis
If you're concerned about CA's housing shortage, unstable funding for schools, & the growing generational & racial wealth gap, @BIFYA_Berkeley has an important new report out today...
Read more about who is really benefiting from Prop 13: https://t.co/EMxaLenXTf #CAPol#CALeg
This is why we must continue to talk about reforming Prop. 13 👇
In a state where there's a housing crisis and underfunded schools, why are we giving discounts to ALL types of property? Vacant land, gov't property...really? Read more from @BIFYA_Berkeley

By 2028, Millennials & Gen Z will dominate U.S. elections. This is why the GOP is pulling out all the stops to entrench their power. They know they don't stand a chance against a multi-racial, progressive generation of young people that will make their backwards ideas irrelevant.
Thoughtful @dynarski@nytopinion op ed rightly frames Biden debt cancellation as part of repairing harm done by state disinvestment in public higher ed, a broken loan system, inadequate accountability for predatory for-profit colleges, etc. https://t.co/e74G4JRkYk
These stories out of Highland Park about kids knowing exactly what to do when the shooting began, and guiding parents based on their active shooting drills, embody the burden of violence this next generation of kids endure because of the inaction of their elders
No paid leave in practically the last place on earth not to have it, with a "Democratic" "majority," in the midst/on the heels of an economically devastating pandemic, the bleeding of women from a workforce, & a full blown crisis in care is just the grimmest fucking embarrassment
Why does anyone oppose paid family leave when it's so obviously beneficial for children, parents, and families? Because paid family leave increases gender equality. And that further erodes the male monopoly on power, money, and independence. https://t.co/gpNoEeCc0k
It’s not just that the majority of the Supreme Court functionally ended abortion rights for most women in Texas last night merely because they could. https://t.co/7HwyslrOdD via @slate
is it burnout? ADHD? the trauma of an ongoing pandemic? capitalism? climate crisis?
just kidding it's all of these things and the only answer I've got for us is "go lay down"
Biden wants to make government bigger. Why not also focus on making it better? @annielowrey on how Washington became one giant DMV: https://t.co/Vi2BX2Ipi4
I'd be mad that all these calls I made for a forthcoming column on why American infrastructure costs are so high are now useless but honestly @JerusalemDemsas did a better job than I was going to: https://t.co/ikkyylV7Sp
When I’m reading articles, “labor shortage” stands out to me the way “officer-involved shooting” used to. It’s not a labor shortage and we’d do well to pay attention to journalists who pretend it’s a neutral term.
