In June 2025, 70 white rhinos were translocated to Akagera National Park in Rwanda, one of the largest movements of the species in history. Just four months later, we are celebrating the birth of the first calf.
Although conceived before the journey, her birth in Akagera marks a hopeful sign for the herd’s adaptation and the park’s growing conservation efforts. With round-the-clock monitoring and dedicated care from the park teams, both mother and calf are thriving.
