Immediate Action Needed Against Illegal Beef Trafficking in Ghaziabad

There is an urgent need to stop the disposal of beef samples which is crucial evidence against a ring of cattle snugglers. The meat in FIR 405/24 Wave City PS needs to be resampled and tested immediately and action needs to be taken against the perpetrators for trying to taint evidence and chain of custody in the sampling process.

On December 21, 2024, a container (NL-01AF-5607) transporting illegal beef was seized in Ghaziabad, owned by Delhi-based Alami Foods Pvt. Ltd. It was seized by Ghaziabad police.

Preliminary investigations have revealed that the meat was transported from Bihar/West Bengal. Initial findings indicate that the beef was packed in West Bengal after cows slaughtered in Bihar were brought there from Uttar Pradesh.

The inspection of the container also uncovered that the driver and co-driver had changed the registration plate to RJ-14GJ-0274, while another plate, HR-55W-8876, was found inside the container. This clearly indicates an intent to conceal illegal activities and mislead authorities. An FIR (number 405/24) has been registered at Wave City Police Station for this matter.

Serious lapses in managing the case have been noted. Although the container was seized and samples were collected on December 21, they were not sent for testing until December 23, and the report was received on December 26. This delay, along with a lack of transparency in handling the samples, raises concerns about possible tampering or manipulation of the report. 

The Investigating Officer's (IO) delayed actions, coupled with the criminal backgrounds of those involved, suggest potential underhand dealings. Initial inspections and expert opinions identified the seized meat as beef, yet the state laboratory report remains unsatisfactory, reflecting a pattern of report tampering observed in similar cases. 

To ensure fairness, retesting of the samples is requested at a Haridwar laboratory, with additional samples sent to a private laboratory. Strict action under relevant laws is urged against those involved, along with the seizure of the implicated vehicle.

There is an urgent need to Halt the disposal of Beef as it is an attempt to cover up the illegal activities going on with the help of corrupt officers. The beef should be resampled, an SIT committee should be created and raids should be conducted on the factories of the accused in Uttar Dinajpur as there is a massive amount of beef present.
