The Emir of Katsina, Alhaji Dr. Abdulmumini Kabir Usman, strongly criticized leaders of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) during a high-profile visit to his palace. [1, 2]
The monarch spoke during a visit by Senator Abdulaziz Abubakar Yari, the Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council for President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid. The delegation also included Katsina State Governor Dikko Umaru Radda and former Governor Aminu Bello Masari. [1, 2]
In a widely circulated video from the meeting, the Emir delivered a blunt assessment, warning the APC politicians to "stop deceiving Nigerians" about the true condition of the country. [1, 2]
The Emir's main rebukes focused on the following issues:
•Prioritizing Campaigns over Security: The Emir expressed deep anger that politicians are already jostling for 2027 campaign tickets while everyday citizens are being killed by bandits. He noted that 52 schools are closed within his emirate and farmers cannot access farmlands across 12 Local Government Areas due to severe insecurity. He questioned why they were building a campaign structure instead of a security task force to capture bandit leaders like Bello Turji. [1, 2, 3]
•Selfishness vs. Public Service: He accused political leaders of forgetting the common people once elections are over. He remarked that politicians treat the palace like a "voting center or toilet" that they only visit when they need something, only to disappear to Abuja and Lagos until the next election cycle.[1]
•Internal Party Infighting: He openly called out internal rivalries within the state APC, pointing to the friction between the camps of current Governor Radda, former Governor Masari, and Abuja-based politicians. He noted that while they fight for political dominance, ordinary masses face severe hunger. [1]
•A Warning on the 2027 Elections: He warned that voters have learned from the politicians' selfishness. He cautioned that in 2027, if the APC brings bags of rice and money to buy votes, the people will collect the items but still vote against the party. [1]
The Emir concluded by challenging Senator Yari to stand for the truth, use dialogue and persuasion rather than political backbiting, and properly convey the suffering and economic hardships of ordinary Nigerians back to the presidency. [1]
@yabaleftonline This is why they don't ask for help even if it's the last thing they'll do. I do sometimes but i am always negotiating whether to do or not. You ask, they denigrate you sometimes. So many men lock up and keep striving to be better.
Men asking for help and speaking up isn't the issue, the problem is that same men will get laughed at by society. It's even worse because men barely help their fellow men financially, but won't hesitate to render any form of assistance to ladies. Nothing is worse than asking help from the wrong person, and though it's important to speak up, men don't make it easy for their fellow men, and women often make men regret for speaking up. It's a mindset we need to fix.
I spotted the Chairman of Lagos Agberos's car on one of Lagos’ roads, and I was amazed by the wealth and power he wields!
Alhaji Mustapha Adekunle, popularly called “Sego,” rides in a brand-new GLE 350 with an escort. His plate number carries his name, picture, and “official” title.
If I hadn't seen his plate number, given how they cleared the traffic for him, I would have thought he was a senior government official.
How he navigated into different lanes with dangerous speed and zoomed off arrogantly when the traffic cleared proved the power he wields. No one dared overtake his convoy.
And as he disappeared into the far distance, with his ghastly troubles, a painful thought settled in my troubled mind and stayed for several minutes. It dawned on me that these are the people who decide our future.
I have to ask, can a Professor in Nigeria today, who has dedicated over 20 years of his life contributing immensely to Nigeria’s tertiary institutions, afford Mr Sego’s car? Can a teacher in any Nigerian school ever afford a quarter of the amount the car was bought for, even if they teach for 30 years?
Then the painful reality hit me - Nigeria is a broken, dysfunctional society that rewards “antigens.” How can Nigeria thrive when it generously rewards Agberos (thugs) over its most creative, saving brains in critical sectors such as medical, academic, law, security, etc?
Nigeria’s dysfunctional society can only favour people like “Sego,” whom I consider the machinery the political elite use to sustain the status quo. Think a little genuinely, and you'd see that this is the reality across Nigeria.
Rascality rules and rewards the rascal, the illegal, the impune, the thug. The very opposite is what hard-working creative minds in our critical sectors get.
MC Oluomo can employ tens of Nigerian Professors and feed them, easily. Tompolo earns more money than some states make from IGR and more money than can pay thousands of Nigerian military officers dedicating their lives to protecting Nigeria and defending her territorial integrity.
Asari Dokubo is stupendously rich for doing nothing other than constituting a nuisance on camera now and then. Tony Kabaka (born Tony Adun) is among the richest men in Edo State, far more than the celebrated Professor Ambrose Folorunsho Alli can ever imagine, even in his next life.
Take it further; repentant” Boko Haram members get more allocation from the Borno State government than some of the state’s critical sectors. Nigeria’s “officeless” First Lady gets more federal allocation than key ministries like Health. And the list of rascality goes on!
When one sincerely reflects on these issues, one will find that these men have one thing in common - zero productive value! Their jobs add little or zero value to the country. Without them, the society will function even better! What this proves is that we run a ruinous dysfunctional system that can ONLY lead us to destruction.
While I congratulate Mr Sego on the large lifestyle the gods of impunity have blessed him with, I only wish that these gods can reward our productive, creative, brains as much as they do for Mr Sego and his like, if not much more.✍️
@carter8f Learning skill now is not a easy thing.. you will be learning skill from someone who can't even buy you a food when you hungry because he is teaching a skill. Some will send you to their house to go wash clothes ams fetch water for their wives. It is so discouraging
"London is Red" how?
Arsenal and Chelsea are great clubs located in London. Arsenal was founded in 1886, while Chelsea in 1905. That's a 19 years difference.
But, Chelsea has the complete trophy cabinet and remains the only club in football history to do so. Arsenal on the other hand, hasn't won most of these titles, the closest the club has come in being runner-ups.
So London remains Blue respectfully speaking if facts are taken into account. No shades.
“In Nigeria, someone became popular through begging, and society’s leaders encouraged him. He comes online to beg people for money. That’s the seed making people beg on the streets and even break people’s windscreens.” 💔
