We are witnessing a very sad moment in American history.
The President of the United States is aligning himself with the dictator of Russia, Vladimir Putin, to undermine the independence of Ukraine and its democracy.
Here are my thoughts:

This map (from @FT) shows the progress we’ve made in Scotland against COVID. But we mustn’t drop our guard. Please keep following the advice on face coverings, avoiding crowded places, cleaning hands, physical distancing and testing/self isolating if you have symptoms.
@theJeremyVine there wasn’t a huge difference between Scotland and England at the peak point because both countries were following Westminster guidelines. Now there’s different rules between the countries - Scotland’s slower unlock is helping and we can’t risk our progress.
Middle path:
1. Increase testing & contact tracing (e.g. China, Singapore, S. Korea model)
2. Stop large public gatherings
3. Stop non-essential travel
4. Encourage employers to allow home working
5. Over-70s & those w/pre-existing conditions need clearer advice on risk.
Part of my job is speaking truth to power. And the UK govt is (in my view) getting it wrong. Other countries have shown speed is crucial. There is a middle path between complete shutdown & carrying on as normal.
We are 2 weeks behind Italy. Now is the time for UK govt to ban large gatherings, ask people to stop non-essential travel, recommend employers shift to home working & ramp up the response. Curve can only be shifted with govt action.
Well that’s a first, political canvasser at our door, shame it was the Torries. I took great delight in telling them that couldn’t count on our votes. Would be nice to see @theSNP canvassing and being more visible in the area given this is the capital’s most marginal seat
🏴🤝🇪🇺 @theSNP’s @AlynSmith urges MEPs to be open to independent Scottish membership of the EU after #Brexit.
