@GarnElizabeth Where is your arthritis? I'm dealing with it in my left foot, and it's A W F U L. So my heart goes out to you! I just did a cortisone shot this week, but we're definitely talking about surgery for long-term relief. I hate it when my body decides to be dumb. π€£π
@rachelsteenblik I feel similar abt the phrase "Everything happens for a reason." I see how it can be faith-building when applied to one's own life. But projecting it onto others often feels dismissive. Generally applied, I prefer the phrase "Everything that happens matters."
@bathbodyworks I have a reward expiring today and both the app & website are "experiencing issues loading the requested information." Help! I don't want to lose out b/c of your server issues.
@rachelsteenblik Agreed!! Though I find that everything about the series (characters, plot, tone) is so specific that I need to be in *just* the right mood to enjoy it.
Many thanks to the expo vendors & booth attendants at #ALA23#ALAAC23 who were gracious to me as a grad student with no current influence or buying power at a library. Many of you made me feel like I still βbelongedβ there (looking especially at you, @lyrasis!). #libraries πβ€οΈ
@rachelsteenblik My midlife has been characterized by a near-constant, simmering rage. Many parts of this article really resonated with me: https://t.co/2o1PkAjFrO (ps: And yes, I'm in therapy to figure out how to process everything so I don't burn it all down. π« )
@rachelsteenblik I had NO clue this even existed!! I see a group on FB - is that the way to connect with info about it (for future reference)? Also: have a GREAT time! I'd 100% be nervous, too, but I hope that quickly dissipates as you enjoy the time in fellowship.
@rachelsteenblik My ADHD kids have introduced me to a similar thing in "body doubling." What's wild is that I've been doing this for years as their mom w/o knowing it - just being awake and present while they worked on big projects for school, etc. The psychology of it is fascinating!
@rachelsteenblik I hadn't even heard of it until this tweet. I have the house to myself this weekend and just binged the entire season. Ha! Thanks for the recommendation - it was fabulous!!
@rachelsteenblik We used Dots, Spree, mini M&Ms, starburst mints (red and green), pull-apart Twizzlers, and new this year were sour strips & candy letters. Also, mixing canned frosting with powdered sugared made for sturdy, easily-piped "glue!"
@rachelsteenblik Chicago weather is wild right now, and we had to make a decision about a planned (eagerly anticipated, already payed-for, no refunds) activity today. My daughter concluded: If we go out, we MIGHT be ok. If we stay home, we WILL be ok. We stayed, and I'm so glad.
@joffreyballet Hello! Do you anticipate any of your performances to be impacted by the forecast this weekend? If so, where do we keep an eye on updates about that?
@yesnodetroit Each server runs differently - some are clearing new adds manually, some are automatic, some have greater bandwidth capacity than others, etc. And it's all done by volunteers. I've had great luck on https://t.co/75dWneTmOn. Once you find a good fit, it's a neat place!
@rachelsteenblik Yes, and that's new to me, too! Last year was our 1st in Illinois (relocated from Oregon) and tho I thought setting hours was odd, I quickly saw the logic. And yes, kiddos were here within a minute of the start time! :)
@rachelsteenblik I have mixed feelings about this because I think schools do a generally terrible job at making accommodations for the elderly or mobility-challenged to attend events. I've saved "prime" seats before so my parents can sit on floor level or aisle.
As I started looking into why students earn but are not awarded college degrees, I was shocked to learn how often it happens. I'm grateful my story had a good ending - I'm hoping the same for millions of others. 6/6 https://t.co/NF8h3zBRck
In 2005, I proudly walked commencement after going back to school and earning a Bachelor's degree as a 32yo mom of 4. Just weeks later, the university canceled that degree. Millions of students have experienced this. Here's my story...

This year I determined to put this all to rest. It took me abt 2 months of constant communication, but I finally found someone to advocate for me in clearing all the red tape & after 17 YEARS I was finally awarded my Bachelor's. In Jan, I start grad school for my MILS degree. 5/6
