Uttar pradesh: In the Muzaffarnagar court premises, an elderly Muslim man, Salim, was beaten on the allegation of pickpocketing. He was accused of having cut a pocket.
However, the elderly man says that the wallet was lying on the ground. He had just bent down to pick it up when the person standing nearby, whose wallet it was, was slightly pushed. After this, that person turned around and saw that Salim was picking up the wallet. He immediately grabbed his hand and accused him of pickpocketing.
Salim is a resident of Saharanpur. He has been searching for his daughter for several days, who ran away from home with her lover. He had received information that his daughter and the boy were going to have a court marriage in Muzaffarnagar, due to which he had reached here searching for her.

Meer Faisal has received a legal notice from Siwan Cyber Police under the IT Act over his reporting on the alleged mob lynching of 25-year-old Shahzad Ali in Bihar's Shivrajpur village on May 30. Police have termed his report "misleading" and "factless."

According to Shahzad's family, he was dragged from his home, tied to a tree, and beaten to death. An FIR names eight accused, including Avadh Kishore Chaudhary alias Sanjeev Siwani. So far, only one arrest has been made, while several accused remain absconding.

Responding to the notice,

Meer wrote on X: Siwan Police has sent a legal notice claiming my report on Shahzad Ali's killing is "misleading." Yet the main accused, Avadh Kishore Chaudhary alias Sanjeev Siwani, has still not been arrested. A young man is dead. His family is demanding justice. One arrest has been made, while key accused remain absconding. Journalism is not a crime. Reporting on a case of public interest is not misinformation.

The priority should be ensuring a fair investigation and bringing all accused to justice, not intimidating those raising questions.

A pregnant Muslim woman in Delhi’s Shakurpur has alleged that she was assaulted and hit in the stomach during a violent attack by a mob allegedly linked to Bajrang Dal.

According to the family, 15–20 men allegedly stormed their home after a dispute involving a rickshaw driver, brutally beating her father and brother inside their house. The woman claims she was physically assaulted while trying to protect them, her clothes were pulled, and she was threatened with rape.

She says attackers openly threatened to kill the family, while her father and brother sustained serious injuries. Fearing for the safety of her unborn child, she later underwent medical tests.

The family has also accused Delhi Police of inaction and insensitive behaviour. The woman alleged that when she approached the police, an officer mockingly asked her: “Kya hua, rape karke chhod diya tujhe?” (“What happened, did they rape you and leave you?”).

The justice system in India has become essentially communal . Muslim accused of any crime are met with harshest of punishments- encounters, mass arrests & bulldozers while hindu accused of even heinous crimes are not touched.

A man accused of inciting Delhi Riots where more than 53 people , mostly Muslims were killed in now the Law Minister, a hindu saint who gives blasphemous remarks almost everyday enjoys full police protection while many other who call for Muslim genocide are part of cabinet and legislatures.

This is failure of the spirit of the Indian Constitution, failure of defining of a neutral state and failure of words like secularism, fraternity and equality.
