It’s imperative that we revert to STANDARD, not Daylight time, for two reasons, one of which you may have never considered.
You know the first: solar noon is closest to 12 o’clock all year. That means an equal number of hours before and after noon each day.
This also means earlier sunrises which are significantly better for establishing a healthy circadian rhythm.
The second reason is that nearly ONE THIRD of US counties are in the wrong timezone.
A significant swath of the country isn’t only an artificial hour ahead because of daylight time… but TWO HOURS ahead of true solar time.
Year-round daylight time, especially without recalibrating time zones, would establish this error permanently, affecting millions of Americans.
We should be letting the Sun dictate the day the way God made it. Arbitrary, artificial tampering would be worse for us all.
Fix the time zones and affix standard time.
NO! Permanent DST cost CHILDREN'S LIVES when last tried in 1974. In the winter, we need Standard Time's morning sunlight for health and safety. Ditch DST, Save Standard Time!
Sunshine Protection Act —
This isn’t about the clock.
It’s about the government artificially regulating the circadian rhythms of 330+ million people twice a year.
Sleep cycles.
Hormone production.
Energy levels.
Cognitive performance.
Mood.
Productivity.
All disrupted by an arbitrary time shift created for an industrial-era system that no longer exists.
Human biology operates on light, frequency, and rhythm.
Not bureaucracy.
The fact that an entire population has normalized the state altering its collective sleep cycle every six months is actually pretty wild when you think about it.
This is a mistake @realDonaldTrump Lock the clock on STANDARD TIME. Stop changing the clock twice a year, but on STANDARD TIME not Daylight Savings Time. PLEASE!
🚨 US House Energy/Commerce Committee today amended the Sunshine Protection Act into the Motor Vehicle Modernization Act. If approved by Congress, it would mandate permanent Daylight Saving Time in all states that don’t self-exempt in advance, with no option for exemption after taking effect. 🧐 Permanent DST is a mandate to start work/school an hour earlier than Standard Time in unnatural darkness all winter. It would put sunrise in most states past 8am for 3+ months, and past 8:45am for 1+ weeks. It chronically deprives sleep, decreases productivity (by 5%), and increases illnesses and accidents (by 20%). It was last implemented in the US in 1974 and repealed the same year following deaths and disruptions to commerce. 👉 Tell your US House reps asap to amend MVMA (H.R.7389) to remove SPA (H.R.139) or to reword for nationwide restoration of permanent Standard Time with a clearer option for the minority of states to choose unhealthy/unsafe permanent DST by advancement of their own time zones if so strongly desired (though why DST proponents don’t simply start their own days an hour early remains boggling).
The Sunshine Protection Act is once again in the spotlight. This is a move to have Daylight Savings Time be the permanent time as opposed to Standard Time.
THIS IS THE WRONG TIME TO MAKE PERMANENT.
I did a video back in 2022 (video below) discussing how this has been tried before in the U.S. back in the 1970s and also in other countries like Russia and the U.K. ALL attempts to make DST permanent was ultimately reversed for various reasons.
BTW I do suggest watching the video at about 1.5 speed as I tend to talk slower in my videos. :)
With DST you are trading longer summer days for considerably longer darker mornings for the year. This has lead to increased fatalities in car accidents and school children deaths as they walk to their buses/school. Our natural circadian rhythms are disrupted leading to decreased productivity and work place accidents as well as various worstening of overall health.
Please share this and check out @SaveStandard as they have great information on this as well. Please do not let the Sunshine Protection Act pass. It is backed by powerful entities that stand to gain financially from longer sunshine when you get off work. They are trading greed for increased deaths and disability.
This morning I am struck by how many prophets got lost in their own anger:
Moses, Jonah, Elijah, Jeremiah.
Be on guard, because the “prophetic” can easily sour into self-righteousness, sin, and despair.
Evening light is pleasant.
But morning light is essential.
It’s one of the most powerful biological signals your body receives.
Morning sunlight shuts off melatonin, boosts serotonin, and sets your circadian clock for the entire day.
Kids especially benefit. Morning light is linked to better attention, improved sleep, and lower rates of depression and anxiety.
Daylight Saving Time delays winter sunrises, leaving millions waking in darkness. It goes against our biology.
Enough already.

🚨🚨🚨
For those of you that just turned the clock an hour ahead think of it as moving to the western side of your time zone. You still have the same number of hours approximately that you had yesterday but now everything is happening later in the day.
And for those wondering whether time policy actually affects health, there’s a fascinating natural experiment hiding in plain sight: where you live inside a time zone.
People who live on the western edge of a time zone experience a different light environment than people on the eastern edge, even though the clock says the same time.
Why?
Because the sun rises and sets later as you move west.
That means two people with the same 7:00 AM work start time can experience very different biological conditions.
Someone in Boston (eastern edge of Eastern Time) might have sunrise close to when the alarm goes off.
Someone in western Indiana or western Michigan (western edge of Eastern Time) may still be in near darkness.
But they’re expected to function on the same clock schedule.
Researchers realized this creates a powerful way to study circadian misalignment in large populations.
And the results are striking.
Multiple epidemiological studies show that living further west within a time zone — where sunset occurs later by the clock — is associated with shorter sleep duration and worse health outcomes.
The proposed mechanism is “social jetlag.”
People go to bed later because the sun sets later, but work and school schedules remain fixed. The result is chronic sleep restriction during the work week.
One of the most cited studies looked at U.S. populations across time zone boundaries and found that later sunset times were associated with:
• shorter sleep
• higher rates of obesity
• increased diabetes prevalence
• more cardiovascular disease
• poorer self-reported health
(Giuntella & Mazzonna, Journal of Health Economics, 2019)
Another analysis examining cancer incidence found that moving west within a time zone — where circadian misalignment is greater — was associated with higher rates of several cancers, including breast and prostate cancer.
(Gu et al., Cancer Epidemiology Biomarkers & Prevention, 2017)
Additional work has found associations with hepatocellular carcinoma incidence and other circadian-related outcomes.
(VoPham et al., Cancer Epidemiology Biomarkers & Prevention, 2018)
The key concept here is circadian phase delay.
When sunset occurs later by the clock:
• people stay awake later
• melatonin release is delayed
• sleep onset shifts later
But school and work start times don’t shift.
So people living further west in a time zone often accumulate chronic sleep debt.
Now here’s where it gets interesting.
This phenomenon is almost identical to what happens during Daylight Saving Time.
Daylight Saving Time effectively shifts the clock one hour later relative to the sun.
In other words, DST makes the entire population behave as if they moved west within their time zone.
Sunrise occurs later by the clock.
Morning light exposure is reduced.
Circadian rhythms drift later.
Sleep duration tends to decrease.
This is why many sleep and circadian researchers argue that permanent standard time is the biologically healthier option.
Standard time aligns the clock closer to solar time, allowing earlier morning light — which is the most powerful signal for synchronizing the human circadian system.
Morning light advances circadian phase, improves sleep timing, and supports metabolic regulation.
Even modest shifts in light timing across large populations can have measurable epidemiological effects.
Which is exactly what we see in the west-vs-east time zone studies.
They essentially act as a real-world laboratory demonstrating how clock time and sunlight interact to influence health.
It’s a reminder that something as mundane as what time the clock says can quietly shape sleep, metabolism, and long-term disease risk across millions of people!
