@macdoin They weren’t wrong. I think back to the salads we had as a kid and I’m stunned. My parents were very adventurous but salad was iceberg and tomatoes.
Part of the girl’s #autism was a very limited range of food.
While we never received proper help for it we worked with her and got a lot of advice from people here.
Today she complained that there wasn’t enough feta or olives in her chickpea greed salad.
@univrsle Right? I was stunned when she told me she likes olives. And then she hit me with ordering a Greek salad at a restaurant.
I’ll ask her about the watermelon and feta. She’s always been a fan of sweet/salty. Goldfish and m&ms was a standard snack for years.
Awareness is not enough. Cute videos of kids isn’t enough. Kids and adults and their families need financial support to survive and thrive. If that’s not a part of your agenda then you’re not actually supporting people with disabilities
I’m not weighing in on the discussion about abortions for pregnancies that test positive for Down syndrome and other conditions. I’m not going to pretend to know what they are navigating.
If you want a world with children and adults with disabilities - the world has to pay for their care and support. If you want a world where you don’t want to pay for that - then they won’t exist. #autism
This morning the boy jumped out of bed and ran to the kitchen and grabbed a box of candy from his supplies. He was basically yelling at me the whole time. He is so in touch with his body.

Me: so let’s talk about your math exam.
The girl: what’s the difference between us and Neanderthals?
Me: I actually don’t know let’s do some research.
An hour later
Me: wait a minute -
@jgreen0751 The buyer told us it was a conversation piece when I asked for a video of the drawers working (it’s a bit of a drive to get it). So we passed since as the girl said “I don’t talk about my furniture”
The girl and I are redoing her room this summer and we need a tall dresser. I found this and asked her about it.
She’s concerned it may come to life at night and sing songs and do chores.
1. Don’t use your workplace contacts to try to get a date.
There is no 2 in this situation.
He’s not getting a date and he’s probably not going to have a job.
And I really hope Dr. Dad doesn’t have access to any student info (but I’m assuming that’s not a real PhD)
I want everyone condemning the guy to spell out exactly when and how it is OK for men to ask women out. I guarantee a lot of you have an implicit "only swiping apps" rule and don't even know it because the other avenues all closed piecemeal.
@GarrettPetersen@shakoistsLog They would and they would be right because your workplace isn’t a place to get dates. You understand workplace norms right?
