Thank you Palmer, and thanks for the advices along the road. The passthrough resolution is higher res as the camera stream pays the distortion tax twice (camera + VR optics) and is a bit downsampled in the process. The correct way to put it is that it's not 3K perceived indeed, but fully fills the display res after compositing, which is not the case for many other headsets.
I am overwhelmed with all the messages we received after announcing the Lynx-R2. It feels that we were spot on with most specs/design decisions and the current macro trends of our market only reinforce our core vision. I try to read everything and I'm thankful for the feedback.
Thanks! It's a battle-tested laptop hinge but the difficulty in designing this part is to mix it with the eye relief mechanism and 11 cables (battery + speakers) passing through.
The thing I love about the new @Lynx_xr is they kept the flip-up. I think flip-up passthrough VR visors really make sense, but you have to crack the design problem of making the flipped-up state be aesthetically and ergonomically pleasing as a cap or visor.
Introducing the Lynx-R2, a complete upgrade for the best Mixed Reality experience. With the best optics giving +40% more field of view, 80% more resolution reaching 2.3K per eye and amazing ergonomics, this product is our best work.

You do not want to miss this one! Later today I'll stream the Lynx-R2 announcement with all the specs but here is a work in progress sneek peak. Filmed with a wide GoPro that is not enough for the vertical FOV, and we had to tilt it to get to the edge! https://t.co/9pQwURiFQj
We are making the exact same video for the R2, but this time we had to pivot the GoPro to have a slight view of the peripheral vision because of the massive gain in FOV! Coming very soon.
Boom! Here is the first results we have on our #MixedReality mode. It's filmed with a GoPro so you can appreciate the continuity between the peripheral vision and the 90Β° center FOV of Lynx. Let me know what you think.

The full reveal of the device will happen on Wednesday! In the meantime, I can share now that the passthrough resolution is more than 3K x 3K per eye, and we had to revamp our distortion pipeline completely to accommodate the FOV of both the cameras and the VR optics π. All details and specs will be shared during the keynote! https://t.co/HOa7xhNd5Y
2 years of hard work, doubt, risks, sweat and pure love for VR/MR coming together next week for an incredible world premiere. Want a demo? DM me.
I am so, so happy to see everything fit together and incredibly proud of the Lynx team and amazing partners.
As someone who worked in AR/VR for over a decade please listen. The @pickle glasses are not real. Itβs literally just a mold of glasses made in China.
The technology for AR glasses in this form factor isnβt possible yet. Not even Meta or Apple has glasses like this. 100% fake.
