Today I attended the memorial service for the seven primary school learners who tragically lost their lives in the Gweru kombi fire incident. My heart is with the bereaved families during this deeply painful time.

No words can fully ease the sorrow of losing a child, and I pray that God continues to grant them comfort and strength in this difficult journey.

I am also deeply moved by the overwhelming unity, compassion, and support shown by our nation, with people drawn from all ten provinces coming together in solidarity with the affected families. My thoughts and prayers remain with all those grieving.

I have made several observations regarding the Parliamentary debate on Constitutional Amendment Bill No. 3.

First, more than 95% of MPs have expressed their unwavering support for this outstanding legal framework.

Second, MPs have advanced powerful and convincing arguments to support the Bill.

For instance, this Hon MP supported the participation of traditional leaders in politics. The rights to vote and to political participation are universal and inalienable, so why deny them these internationally guaranteed human rights?

It is clear that CAB No. 3 is intended to fill gaps in our legal framework by ensuring that human rights are realized to their fullest.

Fuel relief on the horizon . . . Govt moves to ease pain at the pump

CONSUMERS will soon get relief from rising fuel prices after President Mnangagwa established a high-level inter-ministerial committee to craft urgent measures to cushion consumers from soaring global oil prices.
The committee, chaired by Chief Secretary in the Office of the President and Cabinet Dr Martin Rushwaya, was set up on Friday shortly after the President received a report on the impact of recent fuel price increases on households and businesses
