Nobody talks about the #Bitcoin existential crisis.
If you hodl long enough, you'll eventually start to add your annual salary to your net worth in a month.
Then you add it in a day.
And then in a single hourly candle.
By that point your relationship to your work and money has changed forever.
If you don't love what you do, you start to seriously question how you use your time.
And even if you do enjoy your work, you start questioning whether it's really the best use of your finite time.
At that point many people do what they always dreamed of: They tell their boss to shove it!
But then what?
Humans are not meant to be idle.
You may think the goal is to have no work or responsibility, but that will leave you feeling empty.
And so will endless consumption without creation to balance it out.
This is why so many entrepreneurs fall into a deep depression shortly after they sell their business for millions.
They buy the car, the house, and take the vacations they always dreamed of...
But they don't feel as fulfilled as they thought they would.
And even though they were stressed out when running their business, they jump right back into a new one because business stress is better than the depression that comes with not having a reason to get up in the morning.
Nobody talks about this because it seems like such a luxury problem to have.
But many of you will experience this.
And there are things you can do now to make the transition easier:
- Find creative pursuits that you enjoy. Things that put you into a flow state, challenge you, and give you the feeling of progress.
- Build a family that you want to spend time with.
- Find hobbies that keep you in the moment. Trail running, skiing, surfing, tennis, motocross, whatever
- Consider setting up a little side business or charity that you would pursue even if money weren't an issue.
The goal is to have things that challenge you, give you the chance to make progress, and give you a feeling of satisfaction when you lay your head on the pillow at night.
I'm aware that none of this is ground-breaking advice.
But the worst case scenario is that Bitcoin gives you the freedom you always wanted, but instead of being ready to take advantage of it, you're blindsided by an existential crisis and fall into depression or drugs.
If Bitcoin goes where we all think it's going, you'll be glad that you built an enriching life ahead of time so you can transition gracefully.
