I probably won't use this platform much anymore. Maybe do some unrelated shit posting once in a while.
It might actually be a bit better on narrow view, depending on how it crops the image.
You can also see when they switch to wide view that res goes down substantially. This looks more like 270p then.
when the nutella glass is transmitted in higher quality than the Moon๐ตโ๐ซ๐น ๐ซฃ
Don't get me wrong. It's a great mission so far. But I have been stumped for two hours now about why the image on the right is transmitted in such low quality. I have no explanation. Do you have one?
Supposedly they use gopro hero 4 for whatever reason for that Moon shot. This has 90ยฐ fov on narrow setting, 5 mm focal length. The Moon would fill about a quarter of the full image at best, but max res is only 1080p. So if they zoom in digitally, only 270p are left for the Moon.
Another simple camera with different focal length at that same spot could have easily brought us the same perspective with four times higher resolution.
A camera with two lenses could have provided both views, one for Orion inspection, one for the Moon shots at the same time.
@physicsbyelena yeah, but just saving 5 fps on the nutella would give enough budget for a low fps high quality Moon stream. There needs to be another explanation. The camera is supposedly some old gopro. That should be perfectly fine for at least Full HD.

Dear Mac users, there is a clear timeline now for Mac version of StarbaseSim for Steam and EGS. While it will still take quite some time at the current state, you can push it forward here now:

Quick update since I haven't posted in a while: Development is going to be paused for a little longer as I am still looking for a job. I'll might talk more about this and other things in the next monthly report also.
