@GergelyOrosz I think you’re right, and my gut instinct says this is where SWEs shine in this new era, helping make sense of software that vibed its way into money but no one *really* knows in & out how it works.

And helping make it more secure, more scalable, better uptime, etc.

The downside of building your own in-house infrastructure at the scale of Google is when the original authors leave/retire, people cannot connect the dots back to the original ideas and tradeoffs. It causes wrong assumptions and decisions in the long tail.
