I want to believe that technology will expand our senses and help us evolve... but what we evolved to have is deeply intimate and organized to our environment. Life is really amazing. Touch with our finger tips, seeing the sun set and eagle fly, hearing fish swim and leaves rub
@DrMEisenberg@FertStert Some people are unconcerned about this but I consider sometimes if it's worthwhile to line the inside of walls with tin foil lol or something to that effect. Living in small apartments next to refrigerators can be intense too. Also noticable when you start powering up a cottage.
@DrMEisenberg@FertStert When I upgrade I'm going to read into the difference between 5g and 3g, because I really don't need that kind of power.
I can actually hear phone cubes buzzing sometimes, and a lot of light fixtures. I used to notice computer monitors flickering too but tech has improved.
@DrMEisenberg@FertStert I think I may go ahead and buy a new model, and do research into cellphone radiation to find one I like.
I've kept mine 10 years. It has 15gb with 3gb accessible, it doesn't support the McDonald's app. lol I only got data last year too. Though it is a 2nd computer for me.
@AidanMullins7 Don't know why I wrote landlord twice lol
I don't understand why this isn't a thing though. People can sit in hospitals and we send children to schools.
@AidanMullins7 Why can't the government do housing? What is so hard about "charitable" tax-funded companies that build and run apartments? I mean we pay politicians and landlords, school teachers, nurses, doctors and janitors why can't the government hire landlords?
Just set behaviour limits!
one of my favorite rory sutherland anecdotes is about how people complained that an elevator took too long to arrive. it would cost ~ a million dollars to make the elevators 5% faster. they solved the problem for ~$100 by adding mirrors so people groomed themselves while waiting
Myelin may be a brain fuel in extreme circumstances.
Widespread and rapid decline of myelin found in people after running a marathon, with only partial recovery two weeks later.
I can't help but wonder what's happening in the brains of people with anorexia.

@algekalipso Buddhism has 2 levels (not really)
Either completely non-commitmental or full-blown monk life where you gave all your possessions/assets.
Really the idea panders to people who want to be esoteric and all you need is a figurine in your living space.
@hubermanlab Hey this would have made a good Halloween episode, going into the weird stuff and throwing jokes in. Little late now. These ideas get me very curious though!
@hubermanlab As a side note, I've met a lot of people who swear by the effects of a full moon having a generally more eventful public. I'm susceptible to superstition as much as the next person, but doubt this but also wonder if the increased night time light levels have a small effect.
