The same figure for the USA is about 8%. The vast majority of Americans live in suburban & rural areas while more Canadians live in big cities.

A more sensible view is that cancel culture is practiced by more left-leaning institutions. There's no progressive organization that would hire Trump for anything after leaving office.

4. Accountability and social/legal consequences are not necessarily equivalent to cancellation.

& orgs so awful people on the right are rarely affected.

2. There are many examples of people being cancelled with little consideration of context or proportionality. Many victims have less power than their accusers.

@KerithBurke This argument can backfire. For example the term "people of color" implies that only non-whites have color & therefore whites are neutral -- so it's racist -- but with context it's not considered racist. But by your logic every time someone says "PoC" they are engaging in racism.

@SirNaziSlayer @sullydish George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, and Breonna Taylor were accused of non-violent crime or no crime at all. Those incidents are largely driving the protests. It's not just about body count, it's the brutality, callousness, and the lack of accountability driving the protests.

@NateSilver538 Not disputing the analysis of the past 40 years, but it's hard to argue that white Democrats in today's era clearly prefer white candidates over black. White Democratic voters today have the most left-leaning racial views after all, which plausibly includes pro-black bias.

@mlpwzapffe I mentioned "They rode their bike" since you initially said they/them is plural only, never singular. I know "Mike rode their bike" isn't grammatically logical in English but "they rode their bike" can be, as Pinker noted too.
