Kedutaan Besar Republik Indonesia (KBRI) Phnom Penh tengah menangani kasus kericuhan yang melibatkan puluhan WNI di Kota Chrey Thum, Provinsi Kandal, Kamboja, pada 17 Oktober 2025.
Berdasarkan koordinasi dengan otoritas setempat, diketahui sebanyak 97 WNI melarikan diri dari perusahaan penipuan daring (online scam) tempat mereka bekerja. Dari jumlah tersebut, 86 orang diamankan oleh kepolisian, sementara 11 lainnya dirawat di rumah sakit akibat luka-luka.
KBRI Phnom Penh segera turun ke lokasi dan bertemu dengan pejabat Provinsi Kandal, termasuk Gubernur Kouch Chamrouen dan Kepala Kepolisian Mayjen Chhoeun Sochett. Pihak KBRI memastikan para WNI yang diamankan dalam kondisi sehat dan telah memberikan bantuan berupa makanan, obat-obatan, serta kebutuhan dasar lainnya.
Pemerintah Kamboja berkomitmen memindahkan para WNI ke detensi imigrasi di Phnom Penh sebelum dipulangkan ke Indonesia. Menurut Direktur Perlindungan WNI Kementerian Luar Negeri, Judha Nugraha, peristiwa ini bukan yang pertama, kericuhan serupa juga terjadi pada 4 Oktober 2025, saat sejumlah WNI melarikan diri dari perusahaan scam yang sama.
