Delighted to read 2 brilliantly penned #Myeloma papers this week (must-read for trainees polishing their scientific-writing skills):
1️⃣Infection with bsAbs: https://t.co/MDTBVvaa0H (Editorial by @AlGarfall)
2️⃣MASTER trial 'Discussion': https://t.co/DluT81OvD2 (@End_myeloma)
Haematopoietic stem cell mobilisation followed by high-dose chemotherapy and autologous stem cell transplantation for patients with sickle cell disease and myeloma

In times of CART and biespecifics, we celebrate the first auto for #myeloma in the Amazon region reinbursed by the public health system, meaning access to anyone.
Baby step in the technology, but a big step for patient access in a low income region.

For patients with #sicklecelldisease undergoing an autologous SCT for #myeloma we are pleased to share our experiences and highlight some important considerations to improve patient safety for this niche but high-risk group of patients
We’re extremely disappointed by NICE’s decision. We will keep fighting to ensure no patient is left behind. We remain hopeful that an agreement will soon be reached and that DRD will finally be made available to those who need it.
Our latest paper is out!
Investigating discrepancies in myeloma trial enrolment by ethnicity/ race.
We find a major imbalance in minority enrolment particularly for Phase 1/2 trials.
We must do better

Still on a post #ASH21#IntersectionalMed high. Great summary on disparities in malignant haem. @TheLancetHaem 👏
Racial and ethnic survival disparities in patients with haematological malignancies in the USA: time to stop ignoring the numbers. https://t.co/LC0j1A9P1L
Clinical impact of NPM1-mutant molecular persistence after chemotherapy for acute myeloid leukemia - Further results from the UK NCRI AML17 trial in collaboration with Australian colleagues. Hope you enjoy :-) https://t.co/W1NHj4RzKH
The evolution of MM therapies, if one only focuses on MRD (10⁻⁵). Lots of caveats, and for older studies some guesses based on the CR rate (very low). But no doubt clear improvement - in time durable/sustained MRD- will convert to cures.

Very proud of my friend Ash for speaking out about his mental health.
Remember we all need to look after each other, there may be more going on behind the facade. #bekind

Nothing at all to see here except a white Tory MP telling a young black man to stay out of politics and focus on football...wtf? @OfficialTM_3 can do both and more. Politics is for everyone and we should never leave it in the hands of the so-called 'politicians'..
We're pleased to announce that researchers at the #NIHR@uclh Clinical Research Facility are the first in the world to trial a novel #cancer treatment - a significant milestone for them and their sponsors!

GPRC5D is a novel target that has been proposed for T-cell redirection in MM. Take a look at the results from a phase I study evaluating the anti-GPRC5D × CD3 bispecific antibody, talquetamab, for RRMM https://t.co/bwlexXyjpa @AjaiChari#mmsm#ASH20
Dear UK Emergency Depts, @karimbrohi
Sorry to hear you have many worried people post A-Z vaccine with headache
Remember CVST only occurs after day 4 &
Suggest at triage do platelet count & D-dimers
- levels will help exclude post vaccine induced thrombosis & thrombocytopenia
Fantastic news to have KRd now available for relapsed myeloma patients. We now have a number of choices at 2nd line which allows a personalised approach.
Would have preferred a bit more flexibility in the guidance though.
660,000 doses of vaccine in a day on Thursday. A just fantastic. As nearly 50% of adults are vaccinated in the UK ..a huge tribute to all the marshals, checkers, assessors, vaccinators and Amin staff who are the silent heroes of this effort.
