That’s why I often tell people that Nkrumah’s logic behind the one-party state democracy was anchored in policy continuity and the steady pursuit of a national vision, not a crude hunger for power.

Lee Kuan Yew did something Nkrumah never fully did. Lee was not wedded to a rigid ideology, whether socialism or capitalism. He was pragmatic. Whatever worked for his people, so long as it delivered transformation, was fair game.

Nkrumah, although careful and not reckless, was more constrained by his socialist convictions. Those ideas shaped both his policies and his limits.

What makes this interesting is the rapport Nkrumah was building with Lee. It is hard to imagine that they would not have influenced each other over time. But history intervened. Nkrumah did not get the longevity required for such cross-pollination to fully mature.

Beyond their roles as founding fathers of their states, both are known for visionary leaderships, strong state-led development ideology and began industrial transformation.

Both are similarly criticized for being authoritarian, limiting dissent and opposition.

It’s all partisanship aimed at undermining Nkrumah’s efforts to elevate Ghana.

Can you imagine where Ghana would be if Kotoka, Edward Akufo-Addo, and J.B. Danquah had led? With such unpatriotic panelists, Ghana would be worse than Sudan, Congo, or Uganda.

You should be grateful Nkrumah laid the foundation, because since then, it has mostly been retrogression.

One By One, Russia & China allies fell …. Yugoslavia, Ukraine, Libya, Syria, Venezuela … Now, US is targeting Iran & Cuba ….

As above fell to US intervention, Russia & China only issue tepid diplomatic protests. Meanwhile, US offers complete military & diplomatic cover to its allies when under attack irregardless of global location.

China is the 2nd biggest economy & poised to overtake US in less than ten years. And its navy is already bigger than US. Russia is the 2nd global military power after US.

How come then that Russia & China will never protect their allies? Cowardice or feeling of inadequacy? Once they lose Cuba, they will be out of Western Hemisphere. And if Iran falls,they will be out of Middle East.
