Cyclists, be visible* on the roads. Front and rear lights, fluorescent vest, reflectors, ...
And don't forget your helmet.
*be careful to avoid the mistakes of motorists, who do not look at the road and will kill you without realising it.

Police departments run marketing campaigns blaming pedestrians for not being visible enough. But they know visibility doesn't slow down drivers.
Here's an SFPD speed trap 👇

"... And in terms of the things it produces, that business is useless. It does nothing and adds no value. It is just one speculator betting against another and for every winner, on every single transaction, there is an exactly equivalent loser."
"That’s finance. The total value of all the economic activity in the world is estimated at $105 trillion. That’s the mangoes. The value of the financial derivatives which arise from this activity – that’s the subsequent trading – is $667 trillion."

@ScootFoundation@Colemagoo@hardsell@matty_prasad I wonder if Royal Oak was a rapid interchange between the 66 and this tram if that would divert and create new bus trips. Not all trips are towards the city. Airport-Wiri is a large employment zone.
@StuartBDonovan @ScootFoundation@Colemagoo@hardsell@matty_prasad Or bus gate the lower end of Remuera Road, diverting general traffic on St Mark's Road. Buses could loop around via Balm, Nuffield.
“If women designed cities, they would be planned for proximity instead of motorised mobility.
This supports a transition from car-centric cities to ones where traffic has evaporated, and people work with nature to create places that function at a speed conducive to living well.”
Self-driving cars could be a disaster for climate change and road safety -- even if they work perfectly.
The Jevons paradox, a classic 19th century theory, explains why.

"But remember: Energy is wealth. There are no wealthy energy-poor countries. (And energy is not just wealth… it delivers prosperity, and with it health and social outcomes)."

Did you know this: when you use renewable electricity to make hydrogen, you can't use it for things that abate 2x to 9x more emissions, namely getting coal off the grid, powering heat pumps and charging EVs. Call me old-fashioned, but I think this should have policy implications.
The primary energy fallacy is the idea that all primary energy from fossil fuels must be replaced with an equivalent amount of clean energy.
BUT: This is not necessary because conversion losses do not need to be replaced. More than 2/3 of all primary energy is lost as waste heat.
I first heard @MLiebreich use this term which captures this phenomenon nicely I think.

This seems like a direct example of why we should give local councils a share of GST from the activity the assets they maintain generate. @bernardchickey @SEaqub
