Ticks cannot fly, they cannot jump,
and they crawl slower than a snail.
Yet, they somehow “outbreak”
across thousands of miles of
different states in the exact same
week.
They aren’t migrating through the
woods; they are being delivered.
@Pony932@McFranchisee It’s wild that this is what you conclude from this discourse. No one said that. Things used to be significantly cheaper but wasteful spending and money printing have destroyed purchasing power. It has nothing to do with the people running the restaurants.
Yeah, I used to get $0.99 Whoppers from Burger King all the time in high school and college prior to 2008. Now I got a bunch of mendacious cultists trying to convince me that didn't happen.
Can’t help but be impressed by the ability to drop a giant rocket from space right next to a buoy on the other side of the world, do a half flip, and hover before allowing it to fall and explode as planned.
@onefiftyfivemm There is a terrible laziness in academics regarding citations. I see it in papers and textbooks. Every time I read something I think sounds off, I go to the original citation. I’m often proven right in my skepticism.
It is astounding to me the number of people who have posted similar responses to this. Merely suggesting that authors should read a paper before citing it as a source has revealed more about the degradation of scientific literature than any meta-analysis could.
@eiszett Have you read all the sources you ever cited? During my PhD we, along with dozens of other papers, cited a paper that I later found did not contain the result for which it was commonly cited. I should be banned I guess.
The move from a legislature that created and passed bills based on compromise to one that blindly votes based on what party/lobbying group introduced it is nearly complete.
