TODAY: Community members and local press are invited to join me for a press conference regarding my decision to run for Mayor of Burlington.
The press conference will begin at 5:15 PM at the Old North End Community Center (20 Allen Street).
I am seriously considering running to be the next mayor of Burlington. I’ve watched my community struggle to addresss complex challenges and leadership fail to rethink our approach. We need to address our community safety, housing, and opioid crisis together and now. #btv#vtpoli
I sent this open letter to @MiroBTV and the full city council. We need to repair the harm and set up well resourced racial equity work in this city with true partnership from the Mayor. Not misplaced investigations focused on the wrong things. https://t.co/CQdGDHpScy #vtpoli 2/2
The #btv Juneteenth audit is deeply concerning because of what it DID NOT analyze: bias, harm, and the Mayor and City’s poor support of Black women leaders. Plus what is happening to our REIB department? This $41K audit was harmful. Now we need accountability. #vtpoli 1/2
Uncertainty about what gun restrictions are — or aren't — allowed has made it difficult for state legislators trying to combat gun violence.

The Progressive Caucus just released this statement with our take on the veto session, including why the House Progs vetoed to sustain the budget veto and the flaws in the GA Emergency Housing Motel Program. It’s a slow clap moment for sure. https://t.co/ewg7mx9k9r #vtpoli
A recap from my POV of the deal leg leaders and Gov Scott reached on the GA motel program. Many gaps remain and new burdens are placed on people staying in the program. This is a “better than nothing moment,” but we could have done better if we were given more time. #vtpoli
We overrode the veto on H.217 to transform the child care system and update critical parts of our workers’ compensation last touched in 1981 and including ALL workers in unemployment system (small non profits were exempt). This bill is a big win for working families. #vtpoli
“The political reality is there is hesitancy to take up the bolder policy we need because of the impact of this question mark that the Supreme Court has created. We would have done more in VT if we were not facing this guessing game.” - ME in HuffPost! 💪🏼
The uncertainty about which gun restrictions are — or aren’t — allowed is a huge headache for lawmakers looking to serve their constituents. https://t.co/rQNjCYoAxc
Housing Vermonters, esp the most in need, should be an obvious priority for a Dem and Prog legislative supermajority and any Governor for that matter. The disregard offered by legislative leaders and the Governor is glaring. There is still time to do the right thing. 1/2 #vtpoli
We are taking more testimony next week on my first bill of the session - H.92. Every other New England state - except VT - allows for workers to access unemployment after there’s a life emergency and they are ready to return to work. Let’s do better VT! #vtpoli#EconomicJustice
@ZacharyYorkVT @BTVMayor@KeshaRam I’ve been asking why we couldn’t find funds in the Budget Adjustment Act to bridge the program until July 1 - giving us time to find a permanent solution. I’ve been told Ag Dept is considering federal help but got some 🤷🏻♀️ vibes.
It's official! Workers' rights are human rights! Let's make it easier for workers to fight for social and economic justice. Let's make #VT#UnionStrong! #vtpoli@staterepemma#vtproact
