In 1926 Netball New Zealand held their first official National Tournament in Dunedin as part of the NZ & South Seas International Exhibition. Seven teams took part with Auckland taking the title.
2024 marks Netball New Zealand’s 100th Birthday. Myrtle Muir, Betty Armstrong & Irene McInnes were at the first meeting in May 1924 (see original minutes) and the first three NNZ Life Members. Mrs Muir also coached the @SilverFernsNZ in their first four tests #NNZ100
Love our Netball family ! 1967 @SilverFernsNZ NWC winning Captain Judy Blair held on to this little gem for 56 years, the hand written score taken by @NetballJamaica umpire Leila Robinson of the match that decided the title 🙌🏻🙌🏻 @NetballWorldCup@WorldNetball_
@_BrittanyCarter@sportznut67 Two nations is the most I’m aware of …There are 11 people who have played for 2 different nations at a NWC on the research I’ve done… there are likely more across other internationals. Cat is not part of those 11 as she only played for Samoa at NWC2007 & not for NZ
This legend will join an exclusive club today. 200 National League matches, the 5th Kiwi to hit the milestone after de Bruin (229), Langman (226), Leota (210) & Rore (203). Te Huinga Reo Selby-Rickit 🙌🏻🙌🏻 love your work and how much you love doing interviews 😂😂
