@witcheer I suppose I wrote that about the desktop versus the VPS, as maybe a series about deployment styles. VPS direct, versus docker, versus desktop, versus desktop as client to VPS, etc
@witcheer I don't often use the desktop, Hermes on VPS is the best for me. I've noticed there are two different audiences, one for desktop and any other VPS. I read a lot about bots but I don't see any of that in the server side, just the original profiles.
@ScottM29980718@ThinkerAtLarge@TheCinesthetic The novel was so good that to this day I still think that our casual dismissal of our postal service is symptom number one of a national decline.

@JsonBasedman If you're still hidebound on centralized, then Mattermost. If you're moving towards decentralized then Element or Element-X. I've been using Element for a bit and I'm very happy with it. But it is very fediverse, and that's a choice.
@marshallrichrds I create apps for these using the serial port to connect to damn near anything. Tremendous value for a super powerful hobby controller.
@thehonestlypod@bariweiss@bungarsargon@BriannaWu At about the 30-minute mark, someone used to be an engineer? Thus they know that we were incapable of rising out of our situation? I'm guilty of this too. I used to be very technical, and I traded a lot of that for "softer" work. Time to reflect about work we choose to do.
@thehonestlypod@bariweiss@bungarsargon@BriannaWu I listened to this and enjoyed it. I did find the A++(+?) hyperbolic. And more nuanced take might be that it's B work, indicating that the student did understand the assignment and came prepared to do well... though execution has not full A yet. But we'll see.
I'm teaching Python at a university in Colorado, and I often use Sweigart's book. I found the conversation about how and why we teach coding to be electric: The Legacy of OLPC and Charismatic Pitfalls in Teaching Programming on The Real Python Podcast https://t.co/t8CLtYqSki
@jlowin@PrefectIO Yesterday I received one of these books, and I can't tell you how excited I am to be in my 2nd week (maybe 3rd?!) at @PrefectIO. Now I'm introducing h2g2 to my daughter (and reintroducing it to myself). Thank you @jlowin
Today at Demo Friday, @staylorx shared how he used Prefect to help grade homework for his undergrad Python course.
It's so cool to visit the "zoo" of unusual Prefect applications.
