One of the maddest transfer sagas I’ve ever seen.

Madrid had a €9m buy-back on Nico Paz.

He becomes one of the hottest young players in Europe, so they activate it.

Fair enough.

But Paz wants Como.
Como want Paz.
So the reported solution is insane:

Madrid buy him back for €9m.

Como buy him back permanently for around €60m.

But Madrid keep a future buy-back clause at around €80m.

So Madrid turn a €9m clause into a €60m deal, bank a massive profit, keep the “bring him home later” button, Como get more control, and Paz stays where he wants to play for now.

If he keeps developing, Madrid can still bring him back.

If he doesn’t, they don’t activate it and they’ve already cashed in.
