I used to spend a lot of time holding onto things and people that made me miserable because I was afraid of the void that may be there once I let go.
Now I know my voids were just as illusory as the fear & insecurities that created them.
Dolly Parton says she once went through a period so dark, she understood why people turn to drugs and alcohol.
“Yes, I went through a bad period of time back in the ’80s when I was going through the change. I was having some female problems, family problems, emotional problems, and I was overweight. I didn’t feel good about myself at all, so I got myself in a pretty bad bind.”
“I understood at that moment how people get on drugs, how people get on alcohol, and how people can commit suicide. I didn’t do that because I kept praying, holding on to God, and hanging on to my friends.”
“No business thing has ever been able to get me that depressed. It has to be something very personal, either family or something during that middle-age change of life, when your hormones and everything are different.”
“I did have a very hard time, but God, praying, friends, and just trying to hang on helped me. Being Dolly, just being me, I thought, ‘Hey, either get off your fat ass and do something about it, or go ahead and blow your head off.’ And I thought, ‘Nah, I ain’t gonna do that.’”
“I believe God meant for me to go through that so I could completely feel for other people about everything.”
The Imagination Library sends a book to a kid every month from the time they’re born until they’re 5 years old. These messages are from the first and last books sent. It’s hard to overstate what Dolly Parton did to not only improve the lives and educations of so many kids, but the impact she had on southern Appalachia as a whole. The land once known for uneducated, backwards hillbillies would not be known as the forests of rolling wonder and communities built on kindness and folklore without her. My friend’s son was heartbroken today, thinking Dolly herself was sending his monthly books by hand, and she might as well have been. I’ve grown up, and my daughter will grow up, in a land made better because of her and there isn’t a way to say “thank you” enough for that. These mountains are something special, made by God, and worth remembering for every story in them and every story they inspire. Dolly never forgot that, and her legacy will be the same as the hills she came from.
Lee Dong Wook is going viral after saying he wants a wife who’s comfortable spending his money because he has enough for both of them as long as she’s passionate about her profession. 😂🥹
And the way the other guy casually blurted out, “A sexy wife.” 😭😂 😆
It’s kinda crazy how she never said this line in the show (it was delivered by a Dai Li agent) we just memefied it and now it’s canon in the live action 😭
