@jennaaschwarz I think that nowadays public relations is more important, especially in the more digital age and social media focused generations. #UWJ201 #316
@abbycattapan Having a good PR team means that the issue is addressed as soon as it is presented, and it isn’t left to spiral/get out of hand. They take control of the issue and redirect it with their own information. #UWJ201 #316
@jennaaschwarz I think that many times people try to avoid acknowledging negative actions and tendencies they do, and since they perceive polarization as negative, they may not associate themselves with it. #UWJ201 #316
@EllaBuffalo I think that Instagram is definitely a big promoter of the idea that our country is polarized. Many times posts that I see on my own feed are ones that are distinctly outlining conflicting views between political parties. #UWJ201 #316
Are there any noticeable shifts in our country due to increasing polarization over the last decades besides increasing partisanship? Do you notice these shifts in your everyday life? #UWJ201 #316
Following Monday’s lecture I realized how many factors there are behind the scenes that contribute to what news media we are exposed to. The idea that there are a few big companies that control/own media outlets brought me back to the idea & effect of pack journalism #UWJ201 #316
@Abbyrcollins I think that vertical integration would be better for companies to engage in because it opens up more opportunities for expansion of the company, as well as more opportunities for horizontal integration and different levels. #UWJ201 #316
@keconnelly18 I don’t think that this is a good thing because it limits what information and perceptions the public is receiving. However, I am not sure how this would be regulated because the functioning of the media does rest on the funding and power of these companies. #UWJ201 #316
@elena_mccosh I definitely think that music is one of the more effective and striking forms of media. It is a more universal form of communication and even if the specific lyrics in a song are not comprehended, a lot can still be understood from the tone and beat. #UWJ201 #316
@Sclark978 I was also thinking about that during class today, and it also made me wonder how many important/new perspectives people are missing out on because journalists stick to certain agendas. #UWJ201 #316
Is the increasing consumption of news from social media a good thing or a bad thing? Also, does it have an effect on the way that more established newspaper and media outlets appeal to the attention of the public? #UWJ201 #316
