@dani_louiseY@steminist Totally different specialty but at 15 I was told by my careers teacher ‘you won’t get enough o levels to work in a shop’. Was so pleased to go back years later and tell her I was a PhD!
I failed Calc 2 the first time and my professor told me “maybe you should reconsider being an engineer if you can’t pass my class”. I may have failed his class that sem, but I got an A in all engineering classes and now I’m drainage engineer. So fuck professors who doubt you
I'll be sharing a lot about what art+science means to me today, but first I'd love to hear from you!
Do you have a favorite piece of science-inspired art? By you or someone else. And why do you love it?

So....I successfully completed my MA thesis defense yesterday. And I'm graduating in 2 weeks. With my Master's degree. At 24 years old. With 7 month old twins. Wow. 💞
4 years ago I got a 0 on a quantum physics exam. i met with my professor fearing i needed to change my major & quit physics. today, i’m in a top tier astrophysics Ph.D program & published 2 papers.
STEM is hard for everyone—grades don’t mean you’re not good enough to do it.
