@B_swizzle07@absolutepico You can acknowledge BND is good without pretending every Spider-Man movie hits the same or that calling Raimi’s films special is just nostalgia.
@B_swizzle07@absolutepico You’re arguing against a point that I never made. The fact that BND has good filmmaking, performances, character writing, and heart doesn’t mean Spider-Man 2 can’t have qualities that make it uniquely special to someone.
@B_swizzle07@absolutepico SM 2 is grounded too, but it also gives Peter’s personal struggles real weight his failing relationships, financial problems, losing his powers, and ultimately choosing responsibility despite everything. I think that’s heart and grounded storytelling than bnd ever could be.
@Kyle2xglp@absolutepico and overall tone in a way that later Spider-Man movies don’t necessarily reproduce. Calling that entire reaction nostalgia just because you don’t feel the same way is reductive.
@Kyle2xglp@absolutepico You don’t have to like BND. But saying the Raimi movies have a “magic” that nothing else can replicate isn’t automatically nostalgia. People can genuinely connect with the filmmaking, performances, score, atmosphere, character writing,
@B_swizzle07@absolutepico Nobody said it’s magically untouchable. You’re just reducing every reason someone considers SM 2 special because you personally don’t see the appeal. Great direction, character writing, atmosphere, and the way it understands Peter’s struggles are actual qualities of the movie.
@WindowLife_@absolutepico That’s just you announcing your personal shitty preference like it’s objective evidence. By that logic I can say I’d rather rewatch paint dry than watch Far From Home and suddenly that proves something too.
@venom0804@absolutepico Peter was asshole plenty of times in live action
Heck even there are lot of scenes in raimi movies and tasm…I don’t remember single Tom scene anything from mcu except no way home ?? BND is different topic..it’s only Tom Holland movie I really love it
@jixiani@ECrackteo2@absolutepico If you want to argue that the Home trilogy is better, argue that from the movies themselves. Streaming minutes can tell you how much something was watched they can’t tell you whether it has better writing, characters, atmosphere, or rewatchability.
@jixiani@ECrackteo2@absolutepico And if we’re talking about the Raimi movies specifically, Spider-Man 3 is actually above Far From Home on the chart you posted 3.6B vs. 2.8B minutes. So the data doesn’t support the claim that people simply don’t want to rewatch Raimi movies.
@jixiani@ECrackteo2@absolutepico The chart doesn’t tell us how many unique people watched each movie or how many times the average viewer rewatched it. A newer MCU movie can accumulate more total viewing simply because it has a larger/current audience.
@jixiani@absolutepico If Homecoming ranks higher in total minutes, that shows it had more viewing time during that period it doesn’t establish that people find it more rewatchable than the other Spider-Man movies.
@jixiani@absolutepico The numbers don’t prove that, though. They show total minutes watched, not “rewatch value.” That figure is affected by how many people watched the movie in the first place, how widely it’s available, when it was released, and how many times each person watched it.
@jixiani@absolutepico Those numbers measure total viewing time, not how often an individual person chooses to rewatch a movie. Not that it has greater rewatch value than the other Spider-Man films.
@media_quinde@absolutepico People criticizing Far From Home now doesn’t erase the massive praise it received when it came out or the fact that plenty of people still defend it. “It gets roasted” and “it’s not overrated” aren’t mutually exclusive.
@absolutepico@VoragineTerror9 The slow mo is just Raimi’s way of showing that heightened perception. Saying it makes him “dumber” because it’s more cinematic is reaching hard
@absolutepico@VoragineTerror9 But that doesn’t mean Raimi’s Spider-Sense makes him omniscient 😭 It’s still a warning system Peter can sense danger without necessarily knowing exactly what’s coming. His Spider-Sense can tell him something is wrong, while his reflexes still have to react to it
