one idea - maybe they’re close. they tracked the sender. they identified the car. they got their person. but they can’t charge the crime until they know what all happened. the release of “buried in nature” methodical? to draw out a tip? provoke talking?

the likelihood of them being the same person is increasing. everyone else has been talked to. the author and porch man are still unaccounted for. because they’re the same person.
