OK, so not only do Republicans want to institute a federal ban on abortion, but today 195 of them voted against codifying the right to contraception.
Only 8 voted yes. (Every Dem was a yes).
This was not a “gotcha” bill with a bunch of stuff btw. It was pretty straightforward.
This November, if you cast a vote for a Republican, you’re voting to take away contraception, end same-sex marriage, and force 10-year-old rape victims to give birth.
Did you know? In 1861, 11 Senators and 3 Representatives were expelled from Congress for failing to recognize Lincoln’s election and supporting insurrection. — We can still do that.
Abortion is now illegal in Missouri.
No exceptions for rape or incest.
Right before I was elected, I met a pregnant 11 year old who has been raped by her uncle.
What about HER rights?
Here's an idea- How about instead of regulating gay kids, women, and books about slavery, you fucking regulate the gun that killed 17 at my high school and over 20 little kids at sandy hook.
I don’t think everyone remembers that Zelensky was the leader on the other end of the “I want you to do me a favor though” phone call. I sense the first impeachment sounded kinda obscure to some people. But withholding lethal aid was both an actual crime and a moral crime.
Child poverty dropped by at least A THIRD because of the expanded Child Tax Credit.
Did we extend it and lift even more kids out of poverty? No, we did not.
Congress simply let it expire. Poof.
Poverty is a policy choice.
The great Jim Clyburn on Manchin's insistence that a voting rights bill be bipartisan.“I am a Black person, descended of people who were given the vote by the 15th Amendment. The 15th amendment was not a bipartisan vote, it was a single party vote that gave us the right to vote”
This is worth pausing and thinking about for a sec. Companies currently treat workers like garbage to get us packages 24 hours faster and we need to resist that, collectively.
