@LunarCitizens With regards to engines it's beneficial to have more of them. As has already been mentioned there is engine out capability and higher thrust. More importantly it has to do with production, you need to have more. This enables the creation of a higher volume assembly line.

Obviously depends on the size of the pool. With regular pucks it's about 0.5 ppm per 1 ppm of chlorine. So if the bather load/sun chlorine demand requires 2 ppm a day then that's 1ppm a day of cya. In a month that's 30ppm increase. Though your doing a weekly shock with a low chlorine/cya levels meaning it's protected more from the sun then a weekly shock to fix any problems that arise from that FC/cya ration. For people taking care of their own pool daily liquid chlorine at 7.5%-10% FC/cya means you don't have to shock or change anything else but reducing the PH as needed.

A gallon a week means your elevating the chlorine level weekly to keep it in check, breaking the combined chlorine and killing off anything that's there. I'm saying if you keep it at a 7.5%-10% you don't have to do the weekly shock. Obviously the higher the use of the pool or the more sun there is the more chlorine you would have to put in daily. What your doing works for maintenance companies because they go once a week generally. Though you still also have to deal with the CYA buildup using pucks weekly adds CYA every week so it doesn't just sit at 70.
Anything done wrong can mess things up. You can put too many pucks in your pool leading to a high chlorine level no difference. There are apps that will tell you how much based on the size of your pool and the concentration of chlorine and your stabilizer level. Which is why if you set up your stabilizer once at the start of the season and avoid using pucks or shock then it is a constant level. Plus you can do it without having to have a proper cya test as long as you calculate it right. Then just maintain chlorine once a day and a pH reducer when needed.
What do you think happens to the pucks and granules they break down into chlorine in the pool. There is no difference between liquid chlorine and pucks on chlorine it's identical essentially. The only difference is the granules and the pucks have binders that are also released hence the discussion. So calling it toxic is ridiculous. A free chlorine level of 4 is a chlorine bath now... Bromine is more expensive and burning off quicker is true vs chlorine but stabilizer fixes that. Though I'm not an expert on bromine I read about being banned in some countries due to the formation of bromates which some say are carcinogenic and also it is slower acting. Beyond that I'm pretty ignorant as I see no point in switching.
Cyanuric acid stabilizes liquid chlorine just the same as any other form of chlorine. At open of the pool you put enough stabilizer in to raise it to 30. After that you don't need anymore. Cyanuric acid isn't for adjusting pH it's stabilizer to protect the chlorine from UV. You use a ph reducer to lower the pH as needed, letting the pH raise through aeration to lower the alkalinity to buffer the pH swings up from the liquid chlorine.
If people want to deal with the side effects of that be my guest. Key word in your post is stabilized which is cyanuric acid. This constant application raises levels of cyanuric acid which means free chlorine is less effective. Plus if your just using that your levels will drop during the week below the threshold and allow algae growth.
