Hey @Sflecce, since we are opening #UnsafeSchools Monday all in the name of children’s mental health, when are you cancelling this year’s #eqao? Asking for stressed out students.
If @ongov is serious about schools being 1st to open/last to close, start planning now.
-#COVIDisAirborne PPE for teachers/staff
-3 shots for teachers/staff
-upgrade ventilation as much as possible
-focused effort to get kids vax’d
-rapid “test to stay”
-routine RAT surveillance
If you’re disappointed in @fordnation tonight because you waited in line in the cold for 10 hours for rapid tests that he promised but never delivered, please remember that he has been breaking promises, failing to deliver and disappointing Ontarians for three and a half years.
@DrZoeHyde I can afford to purchase N95 or better masks but sadly school staff are only permitted to wear the surgical grade masks provided by the school boards. We are not allowed to protect ourselves and students further to prevent transmission.
@imgrund The Ontario government recently changed the school screening guidelines AGAIN by removing headache, runny nose, and sore throat from the listed symptoms. According to Yale studies, these are among the most frequent symptoms of the Delta variant. How is that keeping anyone safe?
Calling all students, parents, education workers, and community allies! Join us in the fight against hybrid learning!
It is time for @Sflecce, @fordnation, and our school boards to put students, families, and education workers first.
#NoHybrid#HybridHurtsKids
A new survey of teachers conducted by @CBCNews highlights again what we have been saying over and over - that after this year, our kids are going to need more support than ever.
Why won't this government make them a priority?
#onted#onpoli
@imgrund@YorkRegionGovt The data isn't even accurate either! There are many cases not being reported so the numbers should be much higher and so should the amount of schools closing. My sons school notified us that it has 10 confirmed cases but the website tracker only shows 4.
I don't normally retweet myself but I'm putting this out here again. We can't forget what is needed for a #SafeSeptember. Obviously there are other things i.e. mental health supports, ventilation, enhanced health and safety protocols but twitter limits the # of characters. :-)
A #SafeSeptember can only happen with a comprehensive plan that is fully funded and ensures the health and safety of staff and students! We can’t get this wrong!
