@ILoveBlueBell@ILoveBlueBell I grew up in Brenham but now live in STL- glad my kids will now get to enjoy the ice cream I grew up on! Now, If you could please just send some Dairy Bar and/or Whataburger our way...
@acweyand@Gleason4plus5 I think what you desire are called "clinical decision limits". These are thresholds associated with specific outcomes, rather than concentrations from "normal" individuals. This is what we use for lipids, HgbA1c, etc. Reference change values are another useful alternative.
@hyderabaddoctor MMA and total homocysteine are better biomarkers of B12 deficiency than serum/rbc B12 . This is because you can have normal blood concentrations of B12 but low concentrations at the tissue level. The functional biomarkers (MMA/tHCY) are more sensitive than B12.
@neely615 No no, it was a positive conversation. I won't ruin this poll by disclosing how you convinced me, but I'll say you had a strong justification (IMO).
@SallyMaelstrom Pancreatitis, Glycerol Kinase deficiency (artifactual TG increase), Lipoprotein lipase/ApoCII deficiency, etc. Any idea of why they ordered a lipid panel on a newborn? This may provide clues to the origin of hyperTG.
@mlpaoceo@MLPAOnews But we are talking about this- see the American Association of Clinical Chemistry Annual Scientific Meeting 2022 session 33109: https://t.co/nLOFRw067Q
