No one really warns you about this part of adulthood where you start to feel homesick, not for a house, but for a moment in time. A version of life that doesn’t exist anymore. A place you can’t return to, and a feeling you didn’t know you’d miss so much until it was gone.
the older you get, the more you realize it's not about who knows the longest. it's about who makes you feel seen, heard, understood, appreciated, supported and loved.

It's important when talking about what happened to the 215 Indigenous children to remember to use active terms instead of passive ones. No "children died at residential school." That's a rhetorical sleight of hand to avoid responsibility. Teachers and administrators killed them.
