Two-thirds of the ocean lies beyond any country's borders. Until now, there was no way to fully protect it. This treaty changes that. It’s a vital step towards the global goal of protecting 30% of the ocean by 2030.

African Parks made the astoundingly bold move of buying out a bankrupt white rhino farm in South Africa to rescue two thousand of these endangered giants.
Now they’re busy translocating them across parks and reserves in Africa, often to places which haven’t seen rhinos for generations. The logistical challenges are immense. This is one of the boldest rewilding initiatives in Africa, ever.
In the latest episode of Rewilding the World I talk with African Parks’ Don Jooste who is in charge of it.

In Palitana, something happened that most of the world has never seen before.
This city made a bold choice. Meat is no longer part of daily life there. Slaughterhouses were shut down. Butcher shops closed their doors. Selling or eating meat inside the city became illegal.
This did not come from a trend or a government experiment. It came from deep belief. Hundreds of Jain monks protested. Many went on a hunger strike. They asked for a city that follows nonviolence in the purest form. No killing. No harm.
And it worked.
Around 250 butcher shops were forced to close. Thousands of animals were spared. For many people, it changed how they lived overnight.
Not everyone agreed. Some lost their jobs. Some felt their choices were taken away. Others saw it as a powerful stand for compassion.
No matter where you stand, one thing is clear. This is not just a policy. It is a statement.
A whole city chose to say that life matters more than habit.
And in a world where meat is everywhere, that choice stands out.

Next time you see a pigeon… pause.
That small life has known hunger,
cold nights,
and a world that rarely notices it.
They’re not asking for much—
just a chance to survive.
And sometimes…
a little kindness is enough to change their whole day.

Off to London to help lead a wildlife protection NGO meeting with Defra Minister Angela Eagle on the future of bovine TB policy & badger culling. It’s time the Government brought an end to the badger blame & focus on cattle to lower bovine TB. Killing badgers is cruel, costly & ineffective
