Parents in Sweden were frustrated with an app to keep track of their kids progress in school, so they made their own. Only, it raised questions in the legality of the building off of the source code which already had problems with keeping ppls privacy https://t.co/Jr4pmcsV9c
@marissa_lopez22 it's amazing that she could be found through the viral signs. I've also seen other resources for women experiencing domestic/sexual violence/kidnapping such as staged phone calls where someone records themselves as if they were talking to a friend and the woman responds
@mortynorick It makes sense as a platform that they would include live- streaming, but I feel adverse about it. I didn't consider small businesses and how they could gain profit from this, so even though I feel skeptical of the change it will probably be a good change
@IzzyBfrith I don't really feel good about this bc it makes me feel like they're just trying to sell me things again like other platforms. idrk about interactivity on Pinterest, and I'm sure other people don't either... It is interesting thought where they're trying to go with the app
@Jacksles29@motherboard ABBA (iconic) is also scheduled for a hologram concert soon. the article mentions the metaverse again and its almost endless stream of controversies, this time basketball or VR. We already have VR but its not really there in terms of physically interacting w/ IRL objects

@BenJOUR_ The fact that it was online gave him the bravery to make those comments and bait people. Not only is this highly unethical for someone with that kind of job, serving the public , to have such underlying thoughts, it is also extremely immature and unprofessional
I bet you didn't know that Facebook still gathers information about you even after you deactivate your account through advertisers that have partnered with them. This shady business tactic is not surprising, but even more upsetting after "cutting ties"

@Joel029384743 tbh I like the idea of this, but I don't like who it's coming from so that makes me dislike it because it seems devious or as if will be done unethically because of their past. A lot of other people seem to be having the same thoughts and that goes to show that your rep matters
@Jacksles29 its all very performative. I also had a lot of skepticism when people post links to petitions on IG stories and wonder if the petitions even do anything...there is almost a social contract. like its an extension of who you are only you curate it. In a way its deceiving yourself
@marissa_lopez22 social medias try to get around it by stating in their terms that its only for 13+ ages but kids get around it regardless and that's dangerous. its way too easy for parents to get tired of parenting and throw an Ipad at their kid but it hurts them more than they know
@marissa_lopez22 how kids interact with tech is a question that has been on a lot of ppls minds. i would say our generation is one that grew up on tech and that coincides with the decline of mental health too. hyperawareness is not good if it comes at your expense
This feature reminds of discord voice channels which is really interesting. I feel as though while many apps have their own uniqueness, many are following each other's steps to improve their own platform. (IG's recent stream feature for ex) #csulbsmc

@marissa_lopez22 tolerate anymore. It's not about freedom of speech, its about him spreading false information, lying, and hurting thousands of people who believe in him
@marissa_lopez22 the article mentions that trump wont be successful bc he has gained a pretty bad reputation on social media despite having a large (repucblican) following and i agree. Him getting banned off platforms wasn't only to upset him, i feel as though it was an example for what we won't
@Joel029384743 I heard about the rebranding that they're trying to do, and honestly, to me, it seems as if they're just running away from their responsibility. If anything, they're digging themselves into a deeper hole. I feel like this will only make people dislike them even more.
@IzzyBfrith I really appreciate this lighthearted post! usually, the news is so srs it's almost depressing... I'm not a huge fan of pumpkin spice lattes, but I'm planning on carving one🎃side note: its interesting, all the takes on pumpkin food lol I hope everyone has a happy Halloween! 🧡👻
@MartinCSULB I'm not surprised about this considering who is behind the app. I would rather the guy and his followers fade into obscurity and stop talking about them entirely, but ignoring them wont make it go away. Regardless, them not putting out the source code from the start is v sus
@marissa_lopez22 everyone needs to be more aware of where they are especially if it's in the middle of nature. Also, this points to a bigger issue of people not being able to be without sharing something online and simply enjoy their surroundings. this is an effect that socials have on the public
@marissa_lopez22 I've seen a similar instance on TikTok. There was this rope swing on a mountain overlooking LA, it went viral and a few weeks later I see another vid and the swing was gone and trash everywhere. Glad to know that "leave no trace" helped lessen the impact tho.
