This summer, the UD Bio Dept will be offering Ecology of Appalachia Lab for the first time. I'm excited to be the grad student TA for the course! We'll do a 6-day backpacking trip along ~50 miles of the Appalachian Trail in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Southwest Virginia.

We're raising money to lessen the cost of the trip for the students (pay for food, backpacking supplies, transportation, etc.) and to buy supplies that we can use on this trip and for future outdoor experiential learning for students (satellite phone, water filters).

When the reviewers start suggesting changes to my paper

[Stephanie K. Murray (she/her) @stephkmur]

@AcademicChatter Did that for my MS!

[Stephanie K. Murray (she/her) @stephkmur]

@knicki_bergman_ @ThePhDPlace This! And friends outside of academia just don’t understand why we’re doing it. Some of them seem to think you’re just still in college and don’t have a real job.

[Stephanie K. Murray (she/her) @stephkmur]

@_clueless_25 @AcademicChatter Everyone has given great advice on where to start. In terms of actually starting though, I recommend choosing one of those little, doable chunks and using either the Pomodoro method, an online or in person shut up and write group, or even a website like FocusMate. Accountability!

@Weerd_Science Yes yes yes 👏🏻

WOW! Thank you to our @CWAUnion allies in Washington for turning out in full force to support striking Post-Gazette D.C. Bureau Chief @Ashley__Murray. When we stand together, we are so strong!

I love this video from RIKEN in Japan.

It models the flow of exhaled air in various different settings under different conditions.

As well as the flow patterns being very beautiful, it also highlights the importance of good quality masks (FFP2/FFP3)
