@imgrund@YRDSB@YorkRegionGovt Educators and students need: 1) superior fitting masks, 2) mandatory vaccination, or 2-3x/week proof of negative test, 3) screening rapid test for asymptomatic individuals. All these steps are necessary to keep schools safe.
@YorkRegionGovt Parents and grandparents of children are at heightened risk with school reopening. How to properly use a mask can be taught, even for young children.
Important study and timely especially with return to school. Saliva testing would reduce barrier to testing. Imagine just dropping off saliva swab to a testing centre rather than going in-person.

4/8 If the measure of a society is in how it cares for its most vulnerable, #COVID19 has revealed 🇨🇦’s weaknesses. We’ve seen devastating outcomes of COVID-19 in long term care/seniors’ residences, and others are vulnerable too.
3/8 Deaths have disproportionately impacted our #OlderAdults, with over 90% of reported deaths occurring among those aged > 60 years and almost 50% of deaths linked to long term care home outbreaks. #COVID19#ProtecttheVulnerable

Half of the deaths from COVID in Philadelphia are from NH's. Resources and PPE need to be equally distributed between hospitals and NH's. Focusing on hospitals is like focusing on bailing out a boat instead of plugging the leak.
@DrFullertonMPP From another #geriatrician, please get some gowns to @monsheong D’Arcy St location that’s currently having a #COVID outbreak. Thank you.
@FedExCanada @DrFullertonMPP @DrFullertonMPP Please get some gowns to @monsheong. The outbreak at the D'Arcy St. location is leaving health care providers there short of PPE. Thank you! -- from a #geriatrician
Covid is spreading like wildfire in LTC, affecting the most vulnerable population who is likely to have worst outcome. Agree with geographically restricting HCW. Also need more wide spread screening specifically in LTC.
Ontario must restrict healthcare workers from working at multiple LTC facilities (even in the face of chronic understaffing) https://t.co/FOGG5jeXid
Shared healthcare workers are clearly linked to nursing home #COVID19 outbreaks https://t.co/fozKeoZ1n0

As our friends and colleagues brave the font lines, we must also get ready for a series of aftershocks. It's very hard to plan this far ahead while we're in survival mode. We must prepare early and strategize our response to the collateral damage of #COVID19

"DNR does NOT mean do not treat. We can do a lot more for our patients than just shocks and medications and IVs" We should not forget that. @AmerGeriatrics#AGS19
