This is my experience. When I first began attending, I knew nobody and went alone. I forced myself to attend the coffee hour afterwards for 15 minutes. Then I’d go home. Did that for months until I didn’t need to force out anymore. Been doing it for years and now I get kicked out after 3 hours along with all my friends lol.

We spend hours watching videos, listening to talks, going from one Bible study to another online… always learning something new, always collecting more “knowledge.” And yet, somehow, we still feel tired… still unsettled… still searching.

Not because learning is wrong, it’s beautiful. The Church has always loved truth, theology, understanding. But knowledge was never meant to stay in our heads… it was meant to become life.

In our Orthodox faith, truth is not just something we know… it’s something we live.
It’s not just hearing about Christ… it’s standing before Him. Not just analyzing the Gospel… but allowing it to shape our heart.

Because there’s a quiet danger in all this… we can slowly convince ourselves that watching, listening, and understanding is the same as participating.
But it’s not.

You can know everything about prayer… and still not pray.
You can study the Divine Liturgy… and still not be there.
You can understand repentance… and still never actually turn your heart.

And this is where the Church gently calls us back… Come and light a candle. Come and stand, even if your mind is tired. Come and receive, even if you feel unworthy. Come and live what you’ve been trying to understand.

Because grace is not downloaded… it is encountered. Holiness is not watched… it is struggled for. And Christ is not an idea… He is a living presence in His Church.

So yes, learn… read… listen…
But don’t let knowledge replace life. At the end of the day, one small, sincere step inside the Church… one honest prayer… one moment of real presence before God… is worth more than hours of watching from a distance.

Friends, let’s not just know about Christ.
Let’s actually come .. and walk with Him.

I used to be entirely in the camp that said you should kick your kids out at 18 and force them to live independently and make their own way in the world. I don’t feel that way at all anymore. I want all my kids to live with us until they get married. Even after they’re married, if they want to live on our property, or close by, my wife and I would love that.

The important thing is to teach your kids responsibility, which we’re doing. They need to contribute and help around the house, which all of our kids do from a very young age. Provided you aren’t raising ungrateful useless moochers, why kick them out? Why drive them away from your family home? I don’t see the point in it anymore. I actually like my kids and like being around them.

Maybe they’ll all end up scattered to the wind. But I’d prefer to keep the family together. Why wouldn’t I?

Works Salvation arguments get so tiresome. We are saved by faith but are also commanded to do things for which we were created for (Ephesians 2:8-10). It’s a cooperative relationship.

In quantum mechanics, two particles can be bound so tightly that if one changes, the other instantly reacts - no matter how far apart they are, separated by light-years or entire galaxies. A wonder among wonders, isn’t it?

But we Christians, brothers and sisters, did not have to wait for these modern instruments to discover that nothing in creation stands alone and broken. Long ago the holy Apostle Paul told us plainly: "For in Him all things were created […] and in Him all things hold together” (Colossians 1:16–17). Do you hear it? "They hold together"! The particles do not hold themselves; they are not bound in blind sorcery. No - it is "He" who holds them, Christ the Lord, who brought them forth from nothing and carries them moment by moment in the palm of His hand.

And again, at the very beginning of the Gospel: “All things were made through Him, and without Him was not anything made that was made” (John 1:3). Nothing! Not a speck of dust, not a single ray of light floats solitary, apart from Him.

Saint Maximus the Confessor showed us that in every created thing there dwells a "logos" divine - a thought of God. All these divine thoughts call to one another, gather, and turn toward the One alone: toward Christ, the eternal Logos. The world is not a heap of scattered pieces, but a living crown, a symphony held in unity by His love.

And Saint Gregory Palamas taught us that God, utterly incomprehensible and unapproachable in His essence, nevertheless descends with His "uncreated energies" everywhere - into stone, into flower, into star, into our very breath. He does not mix with creation, yet He fills it, sustains it, unites it from within.

So when today you hear talk of this “quantum entanglement,” do not be overly astonished. It is but a faint shadow, a dim flicker of the truth we have known from the beginning: "everything is connected to everything", because everything depends on Christ. He is the unseen bond, the One who holds the universe like a drop of dew in His boundless palm.

Brothers and sisters, let us not lose ourselves in passing wonders. Let us look beyond them to Him who placed them there as reminders: "God holds all things together" - and us with them. And if He holds us, who shall ever separate us?
