Correctional and youth justice workers across the province are wearing the word “Respect” to work today, angry at the government’s disrespectful delay tactics in bargaining. They’ve been without a contract since Dec. 31, 2021. https://t.co/NcPm4dIfRG #RespectCorrections#onpoli
On this day Ontario Correctional Officers SHOULD HAVE had their Collective Agreement arbitrated but the employer informed the arbitrator that they wouldn't be ready. Today we demand RESPECT and that means showing up prepared in November for arbitration! #CorrectionsRESPECT
Thank you to @DolyBegum for visiting Local 582 & Toronto East Detention Centre this week. We look forward to working with you to make TEDC the best jail in your riding.

Why is our correctional staff having their health and safety jeopardized? Over usage of PPE (masks) can be as detrimental to workers as not wearing PPE.

However the most damaging and directly negatively effecting the Correctional staff is the continued mandate to universally wear masks in the secure parts of the institution…. While all administrators and senior officials do not have to.
Why is this not part of the roll back
Started off this Correctional Worker recognition week with rolling back COVID-19 mitigations that cost the employer substantial money after arbitrator agreed they must compensate staff for completing regular Rapid Antigen Tests. @ONsafety also rolled back paid COVID leave. 1/3
Thank you @gghamari for meeting with @ONsafety Corrections Division today at Queens Park & agreeing to take our issues forward; staffing, infrastructure, assaults on staff & Bill 124.

Excited to be at Queens Park lobbying the Corrections Divisions concerns and issues. Good to meet @MPPKerzner and express the need for action to address the needs of our members! #CrisisinCorrections@ONsafety
OPSEU Local 582 at Toronto East Detention Centre is running a 'Red Shirt' fundraiser to support Canadian troops and Veterans. All proceeds to Tony Stacey Centre for Veterans care. #correctionscares2023
With added donations from the amazing @OPSEU executive board members, local donations and personal donations, the Corrections Division raised an incredible $20,049 for @BootsOTGround during the finale of our weekend divisional meeting! #helpthehelpers#osi#corrections
2 assaults on Correctional Officers in as many days at TEDC by inmates classified as maximum security, SAFER program is working. We must protect staff physical & mental health.
On Sept 19th, my family and I will be participating in our 5th @TerryFoxCanada 10km run in @MidlandON. Please consider supporting our efforts. Every little bit helps. Huge shout out to those who have donated already. #TerryFox https://t.co/JhRuFEg6xr

Here’s what a year of Retirement Covid19 looks like. Just before @fordnation 4 week shutdown last April, thought I would get a temporary P/T job. 60 hours a week and 2 jobs later.
