@Sean_Rogers@Statsbomb How much of the difference in quality between LFC in CL vs PL is due to: a) opponents' playing styles; b) opponents' overall quality; and c) statistical variance?
@DannyFerns @DanKennett This is my best guess. I think Slot & Co. simplified the game for Grav. Gave him less to think about and a lot more to do -- most of which is right in his natural wheelhouse.
@TheRedmenTV@mrbloodred Slot's playing 4-2-1-3, right? I think we've just grown accustomed to labeling all double pivot formations with four at the back and a single central striker as "4-2-3-1" and that's not necessarily accurate.
@_JasonLT Boston is often sending a help defender against Luka when he gets to paint. Seems like adjustment 1 for Luka is to time a pass correctly just as that help commits? Gets Boston into rotation. Then, if other Mavs start hitting shots... maybe help doesn't come and Luka goes off?
@jsexton24 As someone who also has a strong emotional stake in both of these outcomes (me as LFC/Mavs fan), I'm curious: which are you more confident of: a) LFC winning league; or b) Clippers winning opening series against Mavericks?
@downeytrev Cory Doctorow calls this "enshittification." He says it's especially prominent in the current age of AI and big data, which allows corporations to identify tiny ways (that become huge, in the aggregate) to screw us. But it happened earlier, too.
This season, Mo Salah has 15 league goals (2nd in PL to Haaland's 17); he also has nine assists (3 players tied for first with 10). Then there's big chances created:
@TaintlessRed Since you've mentioned the possibility of Gomez playing RB and TAA inverted LB, I'm obsessed. I definitely would like to see this. It could be a big improvement over the usual TAA inversion from RB. Gomez better fit for hybrid RB/CB than Robbo/Tsimikas are for hybrid LB/CB.
