Who should be at the wheel of elections?
The candidates?
The political parties?
Alaska leaves no doubt, it's the voters.
Open primaries, ranked choice voting, and donor transparency combine to make a powerful system that keeps the power right where it belongs, with the voters.
The Carnivore RN- I get it. Trucks are more than mere transportation. Here are a few stories about your brethren who also swore they’d never buy an EV:
@e_v_math
Robert Wallace’s and Brandie McNamee’s stories are especially good. FWIW, Robert has since parked the used Tesla and moved up to an electric Chevy Silverado pickup truck. Also electric.
I really miss this kind of America.
Jimmy Carter and Gerald Ford ran against each other in 1976.
When Ford passed away, Carter gave the eulogy at his funeral.
When Carter passed away, Ford’s son Steve spoke at Carter’s funeral.
Barack Obama and John McCain ran against each other in 2008.
When McCain passed away, Obama gave the eulogy at his funeral.
They disagreed. They debated. They fought hard for what they believed in.
But at the end of the day, they still saw each other as human beings. As Americans.
That is the part we have lost.
Somewhere along the way, disagreement turned into hatred. Politics turned into teams. And people forgot that respect does not mean you agree with someone on everything.
I still believe we can get back to this.
Not because it will be easy. Not because everyone will suddenly think the same.
But because America is supposed to be better than this.
Bipartisan respect used to be possible.
And someday, I pray we remember how to do it again. 🇺🇸💙
Amazing chart. Energy *importers* have invested about 5x as much in renewables and nuclear as in fossil fuels since 2022. Energy *exporters* have invested about twice as much in fossil fuels as in renewables and nuclear.
If you want to lower electricity prices, replace fossil fuels with WindWaterSolar
Your state or country will also save on health costs.
Your state or country will also be more energy secure.
Simple as that.
The Tesla Semi is not only more cost-effective per mile and kilometer than any diesel Semi while offering superior performance, but it's also more cost-effective than any other electric Semi.
And once Full Self-Driving (FSD) is enabled, the costs will decrease even further.
It's a killer product with no competition because no one has such low cost and not one will have FSD, and therefore Tesla will sell every single Semi it can produce.
"Since September, more than 67,000 residents have added their names to the PA voter rolls. Nearly 70 percent did not choose a party affiliation. . . . Statewide, independents now comprise 1 in every 8 voters."
Let's be independent together! @Fwd_Party

“Precision fermentation... might be all that now stands between us and Earth systems collapse.” — @GeorgeMonbiot
I’m with Monbiot on the tech, and with @BruceGFriedrich on the reality check: "Convincing people to eat less or no meat is not a promising strategy."
Precision fermentation is the "nifty way out" of this deadlock. I’ve been diving into Friedrich’s new book, Meat—it’s a masterclass on how we secure our food, and preserve biodiversity without fighting human nature.
It also raises fundamental questions about the future of rural economies. IMO it's essential reading.
If you’re short on time, start with a review:

A barrel of oil can provide as much electricity as a 400W solar panel does annually.
But then, the solar panel does it again, every year for several decades.
@ramez 100%.
Precision fermentation has been used to manufacture insulin for decades, and it’s now used to make a wide range of animal proteins, while sparing the animals, the land, the water, and the climate.

Nonpartisan doesn't mean apolitical.
It means you'll work with anyone who's actually moving clean energy forward.
That's a very different thing.
@Fedup026@EVCurveFuturist Other than the 5 minute charge (which hardly matters if you have a home/overnight charger) those conditions exist today, if you’re willing to buy a second-hand Tesla.
Check ‘em out here:

@EVCurveFuturist Great post. I love this:
“Oil runs on geopolitics. EVs run on physics. One depends on fragile global systems that panic under pressure. The other scales quietly, relentlessly, everywhere at once.”
Game on.
@johnrhanger@wholemars Yes, and there’s a simple cost comparison calculator and an abundance of great used EVs available at very affordable prices. Visit https://t.co/PJpDBleS2J and @FindMyElectric.
I consistently recommend, to my friends who ask, seriously considering a used Tesla Model 3 or Y, unless that’s a nonstarter for political reasons. IMO opinion, all things considered they’re simply the best value for money. The range is great, and you’d have unlimited access to the supercharger network. They’re also very safe, and they’re well supported by an ever expanding network of (rarely needed) repair shops. And if you get a newer model you could also try FSD. Other than some Chinese brands you likely can’t access, no other EV holds a candle.
