@trippfuller@ryanburge I’m often reminded of that study A. Root cited that showed Americans were much more likely to lie saying they go to church more than they actually do, and Europeans lie the other way. Of course, if Twitter represents fact, then pity and judgement are prayer’s active ingredients
If Hansel and Gretel dropped as many crumbs as my children do, there would have been plenty, after all the birds ate their fill, for them to find their way home.
@jonestony You and @trippfuller need to do a series on classic fiction with religious relevance Like brothers, the Sparrow, LoTR, Go Tell It on the Mountain, etc. that would be fun.
@luthersemcyf@RootAndrew@trippfuller I thought @RootAndrew ‘s Pastor and the Secular Age was interesting and insightful, a very helpful response to Taylor and analysis of the pastor in my (white) American Christian context. I also thought their HBc episode was good and look forward to the class
@SheaSerrano Macho Man for 2 reasons. 1. Oh yeeeeah I’m right. 2. You can say a lot of things when you slap someone, but there’s only one phrase that describes taking a bite out of a slender meat stick nicknamed Slim. I don’t even have to say it. (But Ric is undoubtedly iconic)
@trippfuller That’s great. Has he seen Encino Man? Because it has Samwise and Shore in it. And it’s representative of the LA suburban anthropology n which he was raised
