Note: we never moved to a targetSDKVersion above 22/Lollipop (because no 🎨 design for runtime permissions, mainly). So, no-one would be able to ship an update to the Pebble app today without major surgery, under the new Play Store rules (https://t.co/tQIAp3sVyY) 😬
Still using a Pebble with Android? Noticed that the Pebble Android app still runs just fine on Pie? That's kinda lucky, it turns out! (Android 🤓 thread) Spoiler: proguard saved us!
In the obfuscated Play Store apk, the method signature is something like a.b.c.D.e(Runnable f, Object g, long h) after proguard does its 🤫 thing. A modern SDK wouldn't let us compile that code - but at runtime we're fine because the method name is different after obfuscation! 😌
