Thank goodness UN’s Antonio Gutierrez had the courage and the platform to declare the truths about 9/7. As a Jew I’m heartbroken to watch Israel dish out collective punishment as vengeance on displaced people who have suffered for years. Yes, go after terrorists but not w terror
@NickKristof Yes, Israel must take responsibility for its oppressions and the resultant explosions. Look at the losses over the years. By any measure the Palestinians are held in open air prison. They will be subject to attacks from the air and IDF like ducks in a carnival shooting gallery.
@TorontoTeacherX @FredHahnCUPE As an American Jew I stand with Palestine.
Israel stop your oppression. Take your rabid settlers off the Palestinian lands. And HAMAS won’t have the support to make war.
@NPRinskeep Deep thanks Wade, Tom, Deb, for so many years and so many miles and stories. You each have made my life richer. I’ll miss you and my ears will too. All the best for the next adventures.
Also departing: my friend Deborah Amos, who sent a note as she closes out 44 years. We sometimes shared the main studio at NPR, and once shared the NPR bureau in Baghdad. Says she has a “satisfying plan B” that’s “all about reporting.” Which she’s done as well as anyone.
@BrianLehrer I'm a young man in my 70s and I often use ma’am with a question or request to a womanly stranger of almost any age, and to soften the solitary harshness of “yes” “no” or “thank you” .
@BrianLehrer Why, when Ruoert Murdoch’s original qualification to hold Fox broadcast licenses in the US were a subject of debate, are the (muzzled?) FCC and public interest groups unwilling to challenge his qualifications now, after he has admitting promulgating outright lies?
@SnoozeButtonBen @JStein_WaPo Companies putting money in the bank know that that cap exists and should understand that they have to spread their money out across accounts and banks, if they want to keep it safe. Or purchase insurance for this purpose, we shouldn’t have to pay for it.
@mabdinur85 @JStein_WaPo It's repulsive, that people who didn’t bother to look out for the risk limits in their banking, are now being insured by the rest of us through our own banking. Moral hazard hello!
