Intelligence and wisdom are not correlated.

The dunning Kruger effect is probably even stronger when it comes to wisdom than it does to intelligence. Unwise people assume they are wise, ESPECIALLY if they have high IQs or high incomes.

Tribalism and belonging dominate reason when it comes to policy affiliations. People will turn their brains off and vote for anything as long as they can be on the same side as their tribe.

Anyone with half a clue would never have funded that.

It's perfect example of silicon valley convincing themselves that bad ideas are good.

Most silicon valley ideas are failures. And that's okay with entrepreneurship.

But is ruinous with policy.

My family had socialized healthcare in HK... Which does it better than just about any other place on earth.

For some things, you need to wait AGES...

Some things they just don't treat at all (eg advanced cancers(.

And some chronic/ongoing things, a doc will help you fudge the system and cut the queues for recurring appointments.

Lots of great doctors who ALSO practice private medicine at premium prices. You generally seek them out and pay for them if you can.

If you have a very common condition... The waits are crazy and your health may suffer.

If you have a rare condition, it may be difficult or impossible to get the treatment you need.

I'm not suggesting HK get rid of its system... It is far more efficient than anything in USA or UK or France of Canada healthcare systems.

Just saying that even the best socialized systems have big problems.

Put another way:

The left will never reform unless/until it fails spectacularly.

The left will not fail while Cuban and Bill Maher keep supporting it.

They can talk about this bad idea or that bad politician... But still vote for (and donate to) the party that will choose crazy leaders and pass crazy policies.

They prop up the madness while claiming to oppose it.

Note: The right also needs to police itself... But the right has been doing a far better job than the left.

There are some right leaning nutters... But Trump supporters vocally oppose them. Charlie Kirk kicked the nutters out of TPUSA events.

The left wants wealth taxes, sterilizing kids, men in WNBA (and young girls's locker rooms), govt owned grocery stores, open borders, decriminalize theft and assault, release violent criminals back on the street MORE THAN FIFTY TIMES, etc etc etc

The left currently embraces civilizational suicide. It's crazy.

1996 version of Bill Clinton would not recognize today's left. He opposed this extremism.

We want a competent, responsible, pragmatic left... It serves a valuable purpose .. standing up for the little guy/girl, experimenting with new ideas, making sure the rich and powerful can't steamroll everyone...

And we want a pragmatic, responsible right to ensure that we don't forget the hard learned lessons of history... The operating manual for a healthy society and prosperous civilization... Ensuring property rights, civil liberties, entrepreneurship, capital formation, etc.

Right now the right is about 80% there...

The left is about 55% crazy... Overwhelming any benefits the left traditionally brings.

The woke left must fail.

Once in power, it's a one way ratchet to disaster and civilizational collapse.

A rational left must rise again in it's place.

JFK. RFK. Tulsi. 1996 version of Clinton.

Whether you like them or not... They are a better vision of an alternative to the right.

Or, for politicians, are just keen to gain power by appealing to the worst impulses of an undereducated populace.

Medical breadlines.

Zero incentive for medical innovation, cost improvement, or better patient care/outcomes.

Soviet healthcare.

The USA healthcare system desperately needs THE OPPOSITE of this...

AI diagnostics. Regular blood tests without a prescription. CRISPR. Peptides. Yamanaka factors. Phages. Bots. Zero paperwork for most things. No billing codes.

Nutrition (zero sweets/processed goods on EBT.
Exercise.
Sleep.
Activity.
Education on nutrition, lifestyle, etc.

Tax sugar and corn syrup, NEVER subsidize.

Multivitamins. Creatine.

Healthcare can be 2x better and 2x cheaper BY NEXT YEAR if we do THE OPPOSITE of Medicare for all.

Then we can make it universal.

Travel to NYC without money, phone or ID.

Take everything you need from any store or restaurant.

Toothpaste soap towels fresh undies. breakfast? Lunch? Dinner?

Break into any car to sleep in it.

Nice free weekend getaway.

Totally legal.

As long as you don't have any money with you... And no phone to access credit cards or bank info.

You're legit poor and un-prosecutable.

There is plenty of tax revenue.

It's just spent horribly.

Healthcare can be dramatically overhauled with better service, better outcomes and costs about 20% of what they are now.

The level of fraud and waste and stolen entitlement payments could measure in the trillions.

If you have a big hole in your roof.... The solution is not getting more and more industrial blowers to dry out your house during the rainstorms...

Fix the dang roof.

The left assumes rich people are all Scrooge McDuck, swimming in a money bin full of gold coins.

Reality: Every dollar is spent on:

1. Consumption (food,.cars, construction) - which creates jobs

2. Investment - which creates jobs

3. Tax - Which is largely wasted and destroys jobs

In no universe does shifting money from #2 to #3 make workers better off.

Pull billions out of Tesla and SpaceX and Amazon and biotech startups... And do what?

Fund Learing Centers?
Pay for more migrant hotel rooms?
Make more decamillionaires in Congress?

Government should do a small number of things, and do them very well...

And foster an environment where entrepreneurship and capitalism solve problems, create abundance, and offer limitless opportunities... While also providing cash and services for charity and a safety net.

Kill the golden goose... And you get Venezuela's collapse.

Buying a NEW boat is crazy. Pure luxury consumption good.

But used boars can be worth the (huge) cost.

I bought a 25 foot daysailer for $8k. Sold it in a rush 2 years later for $2k with a new motor on it.

Total out of pocket for 2 years was 5 figures (including 5 gallons of gas total).

No regrets. Was great. Used it almost a hundred times. A bit over 100 bucks per sail.
