This most Scottish night ever, starts off good, goes a bit shit, ends up amazing!! Well done lads you made a nation proud, and possibly a bit pissed! @ScotlandNT
As you can see we are a long way off raising the funds we need to keep our holiday homes open. Please help us with a donation big or small, all are vitally important to us. Here's the link to our @justgiving page. https://t.co/TCSGVKbEnS please donate and please share, let's keep these open so families can enjoy a free holiday and make life long memories. Thank you
On Wednesday, @WDCouncil will discuss doing one of three things to Dalmuir Golf Course
1️⃣ Keep it open but increase fees (the correct move)
2️⃣ Reduce it from 18 holes to 12 (a terrible move)
3️⃣ Close it altogether (the worst move)
They will claim they anticipate making a £145k subsidy to maintain the course at current levels for 2024/25. If only they invested in some marketing or in ancillary provisions such as catering etc... you know, other revenue streams.
They state: "Closure of this facility would mean there would be no publicly accessible golf facilities within West Dunbartonshire. However there are a number of private golf course in close proximity."
Pardon?!
The equivalence between public golf and private golf is either woefully misinformed or an attempt to deliberately mislead.
I note there is no apparent consideration given to a community asset transfer, nor does there appear to have been any attempt to engage with Scottish Golf, the national governing body which successfully supported another public course, Hollandbush, in its own recent fight for survival.
I am left to draw the conclusion that @WDCouncil has already given up on Dalmuir.
But I and thousands of others have not.
So, please, if you haven't already, join us in signing this petition.
The time is now.
The need is urgent.
The cause is worthy.
